The Magic will not consider trading reserve center Marcin Gortat before the summer, according to two sources familiar with the team's thinking.

Orlando wants to give its current roster plenty of time to figure things out before shaking things up personnel wise.

This was posted by ESPN's Marc Stein...I'm pretty sure that's where RealGM got this news.

At least two sources with knowledge of Orlando's thinking remain convinced that the Magic will not consider trading reserve center Marcin Gortat before the summer.

The Magic continue to give the impression that it's too soon for them to consider shake-up moves, even when they're "just playing terrible" ... in the words of coach Stan Van Gundy after Tuesday's road loss to lowly Indiana.

After spending more than $80 million on this season's roster, Orlando appears to have convinced most of its peers that it is going to give the current group a full season to see what it can achieve.

Not sure we won't make a trade but I don't think it will include Gortat.

He'll be traded, it's just a matter of when.

Jesus, ok I completely don't understand this Gortat BS.

What did you expect ? White twin of D12 ? Half of NBA GM's killing each other and offering great role players to get him ?

No, no and one more time no. He could be unproven borderline starter on very few NBA teams.

In november yes he was playing worse he admitted to that but december games was much better.

Worse season stats becouse of bad november and also many games with very short playing time about 5 minutes. When Dwight was in foul trouble and Gortat had extended time on court hi game was looking good.

For me his game didn't regressed at all. It's just many people imagination created hell know what from Gortat and now reallity is just doing the job it's used to do, bite in the ***.

Why Magic mached Gortats full MLE offer sheet ?

1. Owners promised deep pockets this season

2. He will be traded anyway

3. This is supposed to be championship season, with Dwight foul trouble you need good big on bench, especially in best of 7 against Celtics or Cavs

4. Finding another good big in last offseason was impossible.

Gortat could start on few NBA teams and give 8-10 pts with over 50% FGS, 10-12 rbs, 1.5-2.0 blk in 30-35 mpg, but it must be system that fits him well. No PF playing a lot in low post (european style like Shard, Yi, Nowitzki would be best) , more up-tempo game instead half court static offense.

Lots of pic 'n rolls and playmakers not afraid to pass.

Dallas was perfect fit, and desperate to find big, Gortat beeing best serious choice that's why they gave so much money. Is he worth his money in Orlando ? No pure C and D12 backup will ever be worth that kind of money. No doubt about this from the start. And for Dallas it could been a steal.

Why not just trade gortat and lewis to the mavs for josh howard and dampier. they wanted gortat. and they could have a sf in lewis to go nicely with marion.
