The official 2013 draft...who do you like?
OllieWillie replied to the notorious S.A.C.'s topic in Orlando Magic Forum
I'm writing this assuming ORL get the 1st pick, obv a huge if. It all depends on how the two youngsters go this coming season......If Vucevic progresses well, Shabazz will be the focus.....If Harkless does the likewise, Noel may be targeted...... That's how it all stands now, the NCAA season wil throw up many more scenarios. -
Totally.......

The Super Awesome, season-long '11-12 Magic 'Strap in' Thread
OllieWillie replied to AddiFB's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Riddle me this........ If Orlando get S Jackson and M Ellis for Ryno, Turk, JJ, Orton, Q Rich, etc..... a ) Who plays point? Do we play Ellis there and bench Nelson or play Ellis at the 2? b ) Does Jackson start ahead of Richardson at the 2 or the three with Turk missing? c ) Do we really carry on in 2012 with Big Baby at the 4? He's the least efficient shooter on the team but takes more shots per minute than all but Dwight and Ando. d ) Can we play without a stretch 4? e ) Does the lack of depth hurt ORL that much? f ) Do these trades put ORL into championship contention? Thanks -
Oh and well done bobbywatson1 on a thorough and well written post.

I've noticed this and I can't for the life think of one reason why you'd want all trade talk in one giant thread......It's impossible to find the trade you're looking to read/contribute to 30 seconds after the news (or rumour) breaks...... Take today for example, GSW - ORL - NOH/MIL trades being rumoured but the thread is 88 pages long and I've looked through 10 of them to find mention of Ellis.... It's a really dumb system, too dumb for such a great forum.

The Official Dwight Howard Everything Thread
OllieWillie replied to Drain-O's topic in The Thread Hall of Fame
This is devastating if true... Local 6 Sports Director David Pingalore has learned through two sources that Dwight Howard's California-based agent, Dan HWNSNBU, was at Amway Center Tuesday trying to get his client out of Orlando immediately. The two sources do confirm that Howard wants out of Orlando -- and staying is not an option. Sources do confirm his agent continues to make that point each time he talks with Magic General Manager Otis Smith. Pingalore also learned that Howard's flip-flopping of possibly staying with the Magic is a ploy to steer the criticism off of the All-Star center. The sources say Howard is growing tired of not yet being traded. Pingalore's sources used the term that HWNSNBU is "strong-arming" the Magic to make a trade, with Howard's first choice being the New Jersey Nets. On Wednesday, a trade rumor on ESPN.com was nothing but a decoy stirred up by Howard's agent, according to Pingalore's sources. They confirm the so-called multi-team trade that would send Howard to New Jersey, and also involving Portland's Gerald Wallace coming to Orlando, was made up by HWNSNBU. The sources believe that HWNSNBU is trying to create a buzz for his client, Howard, in order to pressure a trade. A report tonight on Yahoo! and ESPN.com said the Magic told teams they will not field anymore calls about trading Howard. However, Otis Smith said after practice,"We're going to continue to talk to every team out there and that doesn't mean anything is going to happen." Pingalore's sources say the Magic are not happy with Howard's agent and that the Magic put out the leak about no more calls from teams. The sources described the Magic as digging "their heels in." The sources also confirm that Smith has at least 15 trade requests he is dealing with from NBA teams. Howard did not speak to the media Tuesday, sources say, because of the direction he was under from HWNSNBU not to do so. On Wednesday Howard spoke to the media, but did not want to talk about the drama surrounding the team. The Lakers continue to be an option for Howard, however Pingalore's sources confirm that the Lakers' center, Andrew Bynum, may not be as attractive, because the Magic have learned Bynum's knees are not healthy. http://www.clickorlando.com/sports/Pingalore-s-sources-Howard-s-agent-strong-arming-Magic/-/1636890/5674570/-/15q5t8z/-/index.html -
The Official Dwight Howard Everything Thread
OllieWillie replied to Drain-O's topic in The Thread Hall of Fame
@FastDon'tLie, you do understand the concept of multi team trades right??? You don't have to trade one player with one team. Lets be honest, LAC just gave up the world for CP3, I cant think of a better package......Lets also say that anything anyone gives for CP3 they have to trump to get Dwight. Building block centres dont grow on trees. It's simple, anyone who wants him have to get us what we want......Who gives a **** where it comes from. If Orlando tell NJN they want Lopez, a young up-and-comer (like Aminu), a serviceable player (like Kaman) and a first round pick, they can go get it from the teams that have them.......That's if that's what we want. If LAL want him, ship Gasol and Bynum away as part of a 3 team trade for some young pieces that we may want. -

Just when I think we're a chance of keeping the big fella long term **** like this re-surfaces....... http://www.orlandopinstripedpost.com/2011/12/14/2635031/nba-rumors-magic-nets-dwight-howard-trade-four-teams I'm curious as to who this other player is, I'd be hoping he's a young star in the Gordon, Ellis, Cousins, etc. mould........ -

Potential Bigs We Can Acquire? (Post-Trade Deadline Edition)
OllieWillie replied to NittanyBuc's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
I do kind of see where Smith is coming from. With Howard out of the game you could move Bass to the 5 and Anderson or Clark to the 4 (or even Turk). There would be a huge problem if Bass and Howard were in foul trouble together. -
JJ wants to hit some 3-balls in Los Angeles

K Love?? Are you taking the piss I'd say it'd be Curry and Reddick in the final -
Potential Bigs We Can Acquire? (Post-Trade Deadline Edition)

I just read that there are rumours going around that it'd be for J Rich and Bass............Please let that not be true. J Rich alone maybe..........Or Bass and Q maybe. -
Potential Bigs We Can Acquire? (Post-Trade Deadline Edition)

Zach Randolph would be a fantastic player, talent wise. Attitude wise, not so much. And what do we do with Bass then? Clearly surplus to requirements because Zach would surely start. -
Potential Bigs We Can Acquire? (Post-Trade Deadline Edition)
OllieWillie replied to NittanyBuc's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
I'd bloody love Thabeet...........He's young and inexperienced but he's a defensive minded C and that's what we need when the starters come out. -
I'm really excited to see us play someone not very good after the trade.........ATL, DAL, SAS and BOS is a tough way to assimilate new players, NJN will be just the medicine. I can see Arenas getting big minutes against Harris.
-
Nah that's bull **** man. When he gets the ball it's almost always always in a spot he likes to shoot from. When he gets the ball he should shoot, there are 4 other more talented players on the court around him (usually) so he's open. When a bloke can shoot like that, he's got to shoot

The guy is a joke, who gives a ***** what he thinks...........

I'm not talking about the new players coming in, that's obvious, I'm talking about the style in which the Magic will play with these new players. In recent years we've played a very slow and methodical pace. We usually bring the ball up court at a casual pace and get a good look at the D before making a play. Now that's fine and with players as slow as VC and Lewis it's to be expected, we didn't have the cattle to play a faster style. Now with the addition of Arenas and J Rich (Hedo to a lesser extent) we're going to be able to pick up the pace on offence and maybe, just maybe, get some fast break points for a change. With a C as athletic as Dwight is, we can really push the tempo without playing a 4 on 5 in the open court. With players like Arenas and J Rich on the wings, we're made for that sort of game. Not only is a faster pace much more entertaining to watch but it could come in handy should we get stuck with the Celtics in the play-offs. Imagine us playing a fast paced game against Rondo, Allen, PP, KG and Shaq. There is only one player in that 5 who is at all quick. Dwight would run Shaq, Perkins or Big Fatty into the ground. I for one am very excited about the prospect of the Magic changing the game plan, it's going to be great to watch at the very least and hopefully it'll get us back on track to contend again. Oh and have a read of the article that inspired this rant below......... http://blogs.orlandosentinel.com/sports_magic/2010/12/orlando-magic-hoping-to-run-more-with-new-cast-of-playmakers.html

Do the Magic have a new identity???
OllieWillie replied to OllieWillie's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
Whats "This" team?? -
I've just watched the Suns introduce Vince, Gortat and MP and I have realized something. Those bloke had all just been traded away from a championship contending team and had nothing but good things to say about the Magic, the trade and the Suns..........Vince Carter is just a pro. Orlando just traded him away from his home and he was so positivity about it and about his new team. He even interrupted Marcin when he was asked a question or two about what he brings his team and just stood up for his mate.......... It made me very proud to be a Magic supporter to be honest and I thought I'd share. http://www.nba.com/suns/video/2010/12/20/presserplayers101220wmv-1499999/index.html Oh and those of you out there who love VC like I do, here is a great video of his time in Orlando

You have a point mate.............Look at the Celtics, never has an NBA team assembled a bigger group of utter wankers but they are ruthless and it shows.

How long before we should expect this team to click?
OllieWillie replied to Osprey's topic in Orlando Magic Forum
I think there are 2 levels of "click" for a team chasing a ring like we are........ The first is just a basic understanding of how each player plays and plays together. It's all about getting to know each other and where each other are on the floor. I'd expect that to take 5-10 games but going by the improvement from the Hawks game to the Mavs game, it could be sooner. I think we'll have clicked when we start beating the odd good team or start blowing out the odd **** one. The second step is to go from a team that made moves that worked to being considered a contender again. When we start heading out west and knocking off a few contenders in their own back yards. This is the step we want to be and may not get too. I think this could take a month or two at the least. One thing that I've seen already and makes me honestly believe this trade will make us considerably better than before is Turk and his relationship to Dwight. Turk passing the ball into the post for Dwight like he does is something Jameer could never do because of his height. I’m convinced that this trade was a very good move and it’s just a matter of time. PS Did anyone hear that the locker room after the Dallas game was all laughs and fun. Team chemistry is a huge part of the puzzle and that is a very good sign. -
I think he meant it as a good thing mate.
