    Teaching creationism in schools

Creationism is associated with the story told in the Bible. A story which cant really be tested, proven, or disproven. Intelligent Design is different. Although it is associated with a supreme being, it doesn't characterize the being nor give any specific story. It just implys that there may be a complex mind behind the complex design & intertwining of all nature and life. Kind of like Big Bang except the being is random as opposed to merely a random black hole suddenly expanding by itself Not familiar w/ him. First of all, I dont subscribe to any one theory. I haven't seen enough evidence to make me support or dismiss any specific theory as 100% false, or as having no merit. The truth likely lies w/in a combination of several theory imo. That's why I say they just need to put it all on the table and explain it all, and then let a student form an independent opinion with it. What seperates a Big Bang Theory as any more accurate than a Design Theory, and who said they had to be mutually exclusive? I couldn't answer that.. Sure, as long as you taught all other theory on me as well I wouldn't tell you not to teach that. If at the end of the day, that theory is the one that made the most sense to the students, then fair enough. And you can't manipulate, you would have to put all the info on the table, then sure. Who put forth the idea that Intelligent Design Theory and Evolutionary Theory had to be mutually exclusive? You can subscribe to Intelligent Design and Speciation. All i'm saying is if Darwinism can be in a sciencebook, why not Intelligent Design? Maybe I shouldn't have said facts, I should have said info. Put all the info on the table. The idea that a science teacher can't mention Intelligent design or creation theory if he wanted, because the scientific community doesn't deem it part of the subject matter, that's sounds dumb to me. If a teacher wan'ts to expose his kids to all different theorem in a science class, that is fine w/ me. As long they aren't manipulating opinions, im fine with them teaching that. Sorry if i dont really care for all the pseudo-science mumbo-job, if it is related to the subject i dont care if they mention it. Same with Darwinism, creationism, etc. Sure, but stating who the supporters are is borderline where the manipulation comes in. Instead of just critiquing the theory, we want to attack those who support the theory. That is the problem with the system. Just put it on the table and leave it. Do it with all the theory, psuedo or not i personally dont care lol.

    Teaching creationism in schools

:panicworker: If you want to get technical and not to consider creationism a theory, then fine, we'll just call it intelligent design and throw out all the religious connotations. Intelligent design can be a bridge between science and theology. Right now there is no answer for life's origin and neither 'theory' really has any concrete proof behind it(and yes design theory is a theory). This subject, it's more a matter of taste. What an individual choses to believe, is what they want to believe. Why we are quick to teach Darwinism as a science in school, but yet reluctant to teach design theory? idk. It's not like there is concrete proof in any one theorem. Just teach the kids man and be honest. Put the facts on the table and actually teach them something, so they form their own opinions. Dont hold back or manipulate the situation to make it look like one thing is more factual. Nah, there is no answer to this question right now so put it all on the table is how I feel. Either do that, or save ur money and dont teach it @ all lol.

^True, well said. I think creationism should be taught in some way in it, as another theory. The 'big bang theory' or evolution is just that, it's a theory @ this point. I dont see the problem with putting all theorem on the table, and letting kids make a decision on which one makes more sense for themselves.

Shady McCoy is a beast, fav player to watch in the league right now. Once Vick is back Philly run game will be nasty.
  13. Intelligence on Iraq was questionable, but whether it was an intentional lie or not, it was certainly a failure of a system that should concerned any American citizen regardless... I know you said Sadaam was repressive, but that poses an interesting question. How repressive was he? Was it enough to justify the deaths, not only of American soldiers but also of the 98,000+ killed Iraqi citizens in the war? I mean maybe Sadaam was that ruthless, but was he worth all the bloodshed? How many innocent Iraqi's can you kill to supposedly 'free' those same very Iraqi people? Did they really ask for it, or did we decide that for them(idk)? I know Sadaam had his faults, but we were trigger happy. It makes you have to ask yourself, why did the Administration want the war? Because with what we know now, it's looking like it was an unnecessary war. That's some good points, but i wonder why we want to believe Iran would want to nuke Israel? That doesn't make great sense when you think about what the issues are. We believe they may help out Hezbolla & Hamas w/ weapons, sure, but they wouldn't want to nuke Israel... They dont like the regime that occupies the territory, sure, but nuking the territory doesn't really serve the overall interest, so why do we think they would even consider it? Logically, they wouldn't imo(Assuming that they're actually pursuing nukes to begin with). Only reason I see Iran wanting nuclear weapons (or to be nuclear weapons-ready), would be because they're tired of the constant U.S./Israeli threats. If they actually got a nuke they'd gain more credibility against the threats from Israel(who actually posses nukes), and the ideology would probably be that Israel/US would have to be more responsible in their threats/sanctions and treat them more seriously, or more as an equal. That would be the primary rational for them wanting to pursue a nuke imo, everything else sounds like propaganda. As for a 'rogue group', what does that mean? If that means a group that can't be controlled or trusted, why would any nuclear nation GIVE away nuclear weapons technology to "rogue elements"? There's no reason to believe that they would, and I dont think it has ever been done before... Not even in a nuclear Pakistan, where supposedly elements in their govt support the Taliban/Al-Queda, etc., so why do we think that any more stable nation would do this? It would be easier to just give chemical or biological weapons, and not even that has been done so this scenario doesnt sound very realistic.. As for the poll question, no I dont think possessing a nuke justifies an attack in and of itself, so I voted no. It's hard to know who's in the right and who's in the wrong on the issue, when American doesn't have the most responsible track record concerning accusing other nations of possessing nukes... It's hard to really know what to believe right now and what is propaganda. What we do know is that whoever has nuclear weapons will always be in a position to bully those w/o.. We in America are guilty of it, so what kind of example is that? When you're always intervening in others affairs and imposing sanctions, people are going to want to rise up if you dont treat them as an equal. Ultimately, if you're a nation like Iran how do you change your position in the world? When I look @ it like that I cant really fault Iran for pursuing the technology.
