I agree with you in that Smith has been known to check out. But again, those stand there like a deer in headlights moments he has are, 9 times out of 10, during blow outs when he checks out.
To take that a step further, I'm part of the camp that believes the regular season is moot. Entertaining and great for us fans to see general matchups and all but it just doesn't compare to playoff basketball. That being said, I would argue he didn't fall asleep in the playoffs this year.

Point is, his lacking is in offense, shot choice/scoring and so on. But we would finally have someone we could count on defensively not named Dwight and wouldn't that be the point?
