Would you trade Turk in a deal for Odom?

Recommended Posts

Odom: It may be fun to speculate on the future of Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom, but the team has every intention of keeping him. Yes, there is the issue of next summer's free agency but that's not today's problem. LA has discussed moving him for years but no deal has truly been imminent.

The closest might have been with the Grizzlies when forward/center Pau Gasol was sent to the Lakers. Odom was almost included in the deal for forward/guard Mike Miller.

It was supposedly Memphis who decided against taking on Odom's salary- which in the end was better for the Lakers since center Andrew Bynum was never able to return from his knee injury (and Miller is no power forward).

The Lakers are very happy with their roster. Odom may flourish as the fourth option while trying to earn his next contract - or he may flounder. Looking ahead, LA is counting on his versatility both at guard/small forward - and as the team's second string power forward.

Mike Miller is definitely a player who interests the Lakers but the Minnesota Timberwolves aren't about to move him. LA would need a high level backup at the four before taking on another perimeter shooter. Center Jason Collins doesn't fit the bill and is coming off elbow surgery.

Odom is a valuable trade asset with his expiring contract along with his ability to play five positions. The last thing the Lakers are going to do is rush to cash that chip in - considering they are among the favorites to get to the NBA Finals.

What about Lamar Odom. Hes a guy that can play all 5 positions and can handle the ball like guard. Good passer and rebounder also plays decent defense. Can dominate without having the ball alot. A 14ppg 10rpg guy with a expiring contract. If were not going to keep Turk we might is well get somebody for him. Why not somebody similar to Turk that can also handle the ball but more physical and rather play the 4. That way Lewis can go back to the 3 which he plays better defense against 3s anyways. Odom can play the 3 but he said once in an interview that he rather play the 4. The Lakers are sold on Gasol starting at the 4 moving Odom to the 3. It seems like all the Lakers wanted was a good shooter like Mike Miller but with Turkoglu they would get much more. We get a pf and they get a sf. Works for both sides. How about Lamar Odom guys.

I actually wouldn't mind it, especially since Stan has experience with him, and he seemed to connect to him.

However, this makes the Lakers ridiculous good. And that is not a good thing.

thats a bit of a stretch.

NO WAY to this trade! good player but not what we need...

1. if you watched the series with Boston, Garnett and Perkins left him on the perimeter unguarded very frequently because he was not knocking down shots. That would do nothing to complement Dwight's talent inside.

2. He is VERY streaky with his play. Once again, that does not complement a young player like Dwight well.

I mean if we cant get Turk to agree with a deal then we should try this. We would only have him for 1 year. After this season if he doesnt work out we get to unload $14mill and probaly have cap space to sign a pf(Boozer). Or whoever. We get rid of Redick Battie and Turkoglu contracts. Its like we really dont lose at all.

Lamar Odom

This would be a huge pickup. Odom has NEVER played with a dominent big man like Howard. I rather have Farmar as my backup pg than Johnson and Wilks. We unload Redick Turkoglu Battie contracts and if Farmar and Odom doesnt work out which i highly doubt it, then we will have cap space to sign a pf. We already have the pg sg sf c positions locked up for the next 5 years.
