With the recent availability of apps such as TVUPlayer (link) and Sopcast (link) and their ability to broadcast TV channels over the internet at what are usually watchable quality levels, the availability of NBA games and, more specifically, Magic games has increased.

In an effort move all such streaming TV-related discussion into a single thread, I've created this thread. Hopefully this can help keep people informed of where and when to catch their NBA games online and also cut down on the large number of threads created to discuss these viewing options.

Please note that you generally need a highspeed connection to access these feeds. Also note that channels on TVUPlayer and Sopcast can regularly appear and disappear at the discretion of the kind individuals hosting them.

Road wins have not come easy for the Orlando Magic lately. Getting a victory at the Bradley Center in recent seasons has been even more difficult.

Battling for one of the final playoff spots in the Eastern Conference, the Magic open a crucial three-game road trip Monday against the Milwaukee Bucks.

Orlando (35-41) is trying to earn its first playoff appearance since 2002-03, but hasn't been playing its best basketball down the stretch. The Magic are 8-15 since the All-Star break and have fallen into eighth place in the East, one game back of seventh-place New Jersey and a game ahead of Indiana.

Orlando's biggest problems of late have come away from home. The Magic's 12-25 road record is one of the worst in the East, and they've won just five of 26 road contests since starting the season 7-4 away from Amway Arena.

This three-game trip includes matchups with East-leading Detroit and Philadelphia but begins at Milwaukee, where the Magic have had little success recently. Orlando has lost seven straight at the Bradley Center since a 100-90 victory Nov. 2, 2002, and is 1-15 in the last 16 visits.

"These three games we've got coming up, we've really got to take it to these guys and try and win all three," All-Star center Dwight Howard said. "Make this last push towards the playoffs."

The Magic have won two of three against the Bucks this season, but lost 116-111 at Milwaukee on Feb. 6.

Orlando avoided a third straight loss by shooting 58.2 percent in a 116-89 rout of Memphis on Saturday, as Howard broke out of his scoring slump with 31 points and added 11 rebounds.

Howard averaged 11.3 points - 6.4 below his season average - in his previous six games, but made 10 of 13 shots and had nine dunks Saturday.

"Dwight needed a game where he could see the ball go through the basket and dominate a game," said forward Grant Hill, averaging 19.8 points in his last five contests. "This should help him get his confidence back."

Howard has missed only one shot from the floor in the three games against Milwaukee this season, going 15-of-16 and averaging 12.3 points.

The Bucks (26-50) are coming off a heartbreaking 118-113 overtime loss to New York on Saturday.

Ruben Patterson, who finished with a team-high 27 points, hit a 3-pointer with 0.9 seconds left in regulation to give Milwaukee a three-point lead. After a timeout, though, Knicks center Eddy Curry responded with a 3 to send the game to the extra period, where the Knicks outscored the Bucks 16-11.

"That would've been a great time to go home and watch me on SportsCenter," Patterson said.

The loss was Milwaukee's second straight and ninth in 10 games.

Bucks star Michael Redd, who missed the last two games with pain in his left knee, scored 25 points against New York although he was just 9-of-24 from the floor.

Redd missed 20 games in January and February with a strained patellar tendon in the same knee. He scored 15 points and shot 3-of-16 in his only game against the Magic this season, a 99-81 loss March 5.

Team Comparison

Team Record Standings PF PA Road/Home Streak L10

Orlando 35-41 3rd Southeast / 8th East 94.4 94.5 Road 12-25 Won 1 5-5

Milwaukee 26-50 5th Central / 14th East 99.8 103.8 Home 17-20 Lost 2 1-9

Orlando Notes

Apr 8 Starting point guard Jameer Nelson has hit only 19-of-59 field goals the past five games entering Saturday's game, this after averaging 17.8 ppg. his previous five games. Nelson's problems caused Magic general manager Otis Smith to say that he wants to "see more out of Jameer" before offering a contract extension this summer. "You're a human being, but for the most part it (contract extension) is not on my mind and not during the course of a game," Nelson said...Veteran Grant Hill seems almost surprised that the Magic are clinging to eighth in the Eastern Conference playoff race, what with the Magic's co-captain (along with Nelson) pointing to this team leading the NBA in turnovers (17.1 ppg) as well as having the fewest assists in the league (18.2) and missing more free throws (8.6) than any other team. "That combination makes it hard to win games," Hill said...Center Dwight Howard, who leads the league in turnovers with 295 (including five in each of his past five games), is closing in on Steve Francis' franchise record for a season of 317, set in Howard's rookie season (2004-05)...Orlando had a pair of mirror quarters, hitting 11-of-16 field goals in the first period and 11-of-15 in the third. In both quarters, the Magic hit 12-of-15 free throws.

Milwaukee Notes

Apr 8 The Bucks fell to 6-11 against the Atlantic Division with their overtime loss to the New York Knicks on Saturday. ... Milwaukee took a 16-5 rebounding advantage after one quarter, but New York wound up winning the battle of the glass, 54-44. ... The Bucks fell to 1-4 in overtime games. ... G Mo Williams registered his 11th double-double of the campaign with 15 points and 10 assists. ... He also had eight rebounds. ... Bucks C Dan Gadzuric fired an airball on a free-throw attempt in the second quarter, minutes after Knicks C Eddie Curry did the same. ... A number of Chicago Cubs, including 1B Derek Lee, OF Alfonso Soriano and OF Cliff Floyd, took in the game. ... The Cubs are in town for a three-game weekend series vs. the Milwaukee Brewers.

This is the biggest game of the year so far. We need this one really bad to keep pace and end up with the 8 seed. We have to take what our schedule gives us, so we need to take the rest of the games on our schedule besides maybe Detroit. As long as our coach coaches and Orlando cuts down on TO's.

Two in a row. They played against Memphis the way they played at the start of the year. Memphis was a bad team but so are the Bucks.

It may be a road game but it's not like we're going into the lion's den. It should be a light crowd that has suffered enough. Everyone but their players are probably hoping they lose and improve their lotery position.

Magic in another rout!!!

Scouting Report - B. Schmitz...Orlando Sentinel

Magic at Bucks, 8

WHERE: Bradley Center, Milwaukee.

Click here to find out more!

RECORDS: Magic 35-41; Bucks 26-50.

BROADCAST: TV -- Ch. 65 (WRBW); Radio -- 580 AM (WDBO); Spanish language: 1030 AM (WONQ).

MAGIC UPDATE: Orlando, coming off a rout of the Memphis Grizzlies, faces perhaps its biggest game of the season against the lowly Bucks. The Magic are No. 8 in the Eastern Conference playoff race, but a loss presents a problem, considering they would not be favored to beat the Pistons on the road Wednesday night. . . . After facing the Pistons, the Magic will spend Thursday in Grand Rapids, Mich., with owner Rich DeVos and team president Bob Vander Weide. They play the 76ers in Philadelphia on Saturday.

BUCKS UPDATE: Lottery-bound Milwaukee obviously wants to play the spoiler, but the Bucks are a medical mess. C Andrew Bogut, F Charlie Villaneuva and F Bobby Simmons all are out for the season with injuries. G Michael Redd and PG Mo Williams could be game-time decisions as they struggle with various ailments. Then again, it might not matter. The Bucks beat the Magic without Redd, their leading scorer, in early February in Milwaukee. . . . The Bradley Center has been a house of horrors for the Magic, who have dropped 15 of their past 16 games in the building.

WHAT TO WATCH FOR: See if the Magic get off to a solid start to exhume those Bradley Center ghosts. They need to try to discourage the Bucks early the way they did the Grizzlies. If Redd plays, his matchup against Grant Hill is key, especially at the 3-point line. Dwight Howard manhandled the Grizzlies and he should have similar success against the Bucks, who have no threatening front line.

Must-Win in Milwaukee Key - B. Schmitz Blog

There's no way around it: In the heat of a playoff race, the Magic absolutely must beat the Bucks in still-frigid Milwaukee on Monday night.

Because they have a snowball's chance in hades of beating the Pistons on Wednesday night in Auburn Hills, Mi.

Beating the Bucks offers a buffer against the Pistons, the best team left on the Magic's six-game schedule.

A loss in Milwaukee with six games to play means. . . .the Magic are in serious trouble of reaching the postseason. It's never easy on the road for Orlando (12-25), plus it has dropped 15 of its last 16 at the Bradley Center.

Yikes.

The Magic currently are at No. 8, one game behind No. 7 New Jersey and one game in front of No. 9 Indiana.

And the Pacers have a relatively easy schedule the rest of the way: Philadelphia (A), Milwaukee (A), Miami (A), New Jersey (H), Atlanta (A) and Washington (H).

The Magic: Milwaukee (A),Detroit (A), Philadelphia (A), Boston (H), Washington (A) and Miami (H).

The Nets: Washington (A), Cleveland (A), New York (H), Indiana (A), New York (A) and Chicago (H).

The Magic need some help to ensure their inclusion in the postseason, needing the Knicks to beat the Nets for a shot at No. 7 and for the Heat and Nets to keep the Pacers at arm's length.

For the Magic, the ball can't get rolling until they do what they must in Milwaukee.

Schedule now favors Magic

Orlando needs to beat some of NBA's worst on the road

BY JOHN DENTON

FLORIDA TODAY

Licking his chops. Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic could dominate the Milwaukee Bucks tonight on the road. The Bucks have lost Andrew Bogut and Charlie Villanueva to injuries. AP

ORLANDO - The Milwaukee Bucks have lost nine of 10 games and 35 of 45 during the past 31/2 months, giving them the third-worst record in the NBA.

Not to be outdone, the Boston Celtics have dropped three in a row and seven of 10. And not long after a win last week did the Celtics, owners of the second-worst record, pull star guard Paul Pierce and blossoming power forward Al Jefferson because of minor injuries.

And then there is Memphis, the team that at one time trailed by 34 points Saturday night and inexplicably didn't double team Orlando center Dwight Howard, the most turnover-prone player in the NBA this season. Memphis has the worst record in the league and seems intent to hold onto it with nine losses in its past 11 games.

Tank you very much.

The Magic's bid to grab one of the final playoff slots in the Eastern Conference might be aided down the stretch by playing teams that are focused more on landing one of the top two spots in the NBA Draft in June than trying to win games. Orlando plays lottery-bound teams Milwaukee (tonight), Philadelphia (Saturday) and Boston (Sunday) in this decisive week.

The 35-41 Magic might need all the help they can get as they embark on a three-game roadtrip that could very well decide whether or not they make the playoffs for the first time since 2003. Orlando heads into tonight's game in Milwaukee in the eighth and final playoff slot, one game ahead of the Indiana Pacers.

The Magic likely won't be able to finish tied with the Pacers and still make the playoffs because they would lose the second tiebreaker (conference record). Also, the Magic would lose the same tiebreaker to New Jersey, making their bid to get up to the No. 7 seed even more difficult.

That makes games like tonight's against Milwaukee (26-50) almost a must win. The Bucks played well in Saturday's 118-113 overtime loss to New York, but Milwaukee is playing short-handed with center Andrew Bogut and power forward Charlie Vilanueva out with injuries.

"It would be nice to have another game like (Saturday's 27-point rout of Memphis), but I'm not sure you're going to get them as easy on the road," Magic coach Brian Hill said with a laugh. "Milwaukee has some very capable guys. Like I've said before, we just have to approach every game the same way. It's vital to our success and for us to make the playoffs."

The Magic have been an ordinary team on the road for some time, losing nine of the past 12 away from Amway Arena. They are just 12-25 on the road this season and already they have a lost in Milwaukee to a Bucks team that was without star guard Michael Redd at the time. Remarkably, Orlando has lost 15 of its past 16 in Milwaukee.

The Magic play in Detroit on Wednesday and close the three-game roadtrip Saturday in Philadelphia. The final road game of the season is April 17 in Washington, a game that might be a must-win to get into the playoffs.

"We're going to start the playoffs on the road regardless of who we play, so this roadtrip is going to be a really good test for us," Magic power forward Tony Battie said. "These are games that we have to have."

Most scouts feel that the NBA Draft will be one of the deepest in years and the top two slots could be filled with franchise-altering players. Ohio State 7-foot freshman center Greg Oden will almost certainly be the top pick if he opts for the NBA. Texas' Kevin Durant, the consensus national player of the year, likely would go second.

With those two plum players at the top of the draft, it's easy to see why some teams might prefer to lose to strengthen their chances of landing the top overall pick. Also, they are well aware that the team with the worst record in the NBA has gotten the top overall pick just four times since 1991.

One of those No. 1 overall picks was Howard, whom Orlando selected No. 1 overall in 2004. Howard had a stellar night Saturday against the Grizzlies, converting nine dunks and scoring 31 points in just three quarters of work.

The 6-foot-11, 268-pound Howard could be in for another big night tonight against a Milwaukee team devoid of size because of injuries. New York's Eddy Curry demolished the Bucks to the tune of 43 points and 13 rebounds Saturday night.

"With these three games coming up, we really need to take it to these teams and win every game," Howard said emphatically. "Let's make this last push toward the playoffs a good one."

I think it's going to be tough up in Milwaukee. The Bucks are still feeling the embarassement that they showed down here & will want to really give it to the Magic tonight. The Magic are going to need to cut down their TOs to get past Milwaukee tonight & more than likely Redd will be playing & he had a horrible game here in Orlando earlier this season. No more Stotts in Milwaukee also. Maybe Travis on the active roster tonight in his home state, oh wait Brian Hill is the coach, nevermind.
