Heat's Chalmers not happy about Arroyo's arrival?

Second-year guard Mario Chalmers(notes) can say all he wants about the arrival of seven-year vet Carlos Arroyo(notes) not bothering him at all and that everything is cool, but practices have apparently taken on extra tension since free-agent Arroyo was signed and brought in on Monday, according to the Miami Herald.

 

Last year, Chalmers was the first Heat rookie to ever play all 82 games of the regular season. But now he's got some serious competition for his spot in the lineup and things have kicked up a notch in practice. "There were times we'd have some drills and the intensity was way up,'' coach Erik Spoelstra said after yesterday's workout. Assistant coach Ron Rothstein has noted to Spoelstra that things have been more competitive in the last few days as well.
