Darko gets an average grade from me...

Recommended Posts

Darko scored 8, 7 rebounds, and 2 blocks. Nothing great, but not too bad. Had we managed to keep him and signed Lewis do you think he would have had a better opening night? And do you think this average play will continue for him or will he become a superstar?

he had a decent start, then dissapeared...he had the first 6 pts in the 1st quarter...

I probably should answer your question...

No I think he would have had the same game....

No I think he will not become a superstar, he might be able to be a solid role player a 12pt 8 rbs 2 block big man...

Darko's production is in the same sense as Battie's; it doesn't show in the box score. I watched his game last night and Darko played very well. He held Timmy to 15 & 9 which is excellent! Having him in the lane, you clearly saw Parker and Ginobli driving and getting stuck in the air then making wild passes.

I soooooo wish we kept him. Those numbers don't do justice to the impact he had.

Did anyone here watch the game? (Probably not but maybe someone did) It was such a disappointment after the first quarter.

Darko scored 6 Points and had at least 4 rebounds in <10min of play. He missed his first shot (blocked by Duncan) then his second shot was an amazing hook, then a lay in followed by a beastly left handed hammer over Duncan icon_smile.gif True Story. Sadly ending his shooting in the first quarter with an airball icon_frown.gif

Then offensively he disappeared. He sank one more bucket and stoped playing offense.

Very disappointing. I thought he would break 20 for sure, and add 10 boards... not so much.

Defensively he did a great job. To make things worse Memphis lost.

But I can't complain too much. Mem did face the spurs and only lost by 3, but a L is a L.

And truthfully, I thought Stro would start because of Darko's 30% FG shooting in preseason. Very happy with what I saw, just wish the 2,3 and 4th quarters were more like the first, and a W wouldn't have hurt.

Diener is with the Pacers, Grant is with the Suns. I haven't watched any Suns game, but the last game Memphis played was against the Pacers. I had to watch the game w/ Pacers commentators, during halftime they talked about Deiner the entire time. They said how he was greatfor the teams chemistry, they interviewed the team and it seems like they all love Diener. They joke around a lot and poke fun at him and Diener seems to enjoy being there as well. The Pacers use him as a Carlos Arroyo type of player. He gets about 10+ min a game, which is a lot better than nothing. Looking at his stats it's nothing impressive. During the Memphis game I saw him bury two nice jumpshots but he was 0-3 from outside the arc. He did nothing impressive, didn't really notice him on defense. I think he'll be better as the season progresses. I'm just happy that he's with a team thats using him and he seems really happy and he helps the team chemistry out a lot.

Darko played OK during the Pacers game. Nothing special. He was the only one on the Grizz playing defense. Offensively he had a couple of nice hook shots, but Rudy Gay never passed him the ball. There was a couple of times where Darko could have easily scored and Rudy tried out his best Kobe impersonation on him. There is poor chemistry between the players. The only players that work well together are Pau, Miller, Navarro and Stro. But Stro and NaThey have the potential to be a great team but they lack in the assists catagory.

don't want to open a new thread so i'll post it in this one...

great game by darko yesterday against denver - 14pts, 16reb, 5blk in 40mins. but the grizzlies lost again. anyway, i'm so glad we didn't hire iavaroni last summer, memphis is a joke with him. i don't why but i always have to laugh when i see how they defend. they have some pretty good players but come on, you have to play some defense too. darko has to guard his player and gasol's player. he's stats are awful but i think he's one of the best grizzlies this season, at least he defends. i think the grizzlies would be much better if they trade gasol and hire carlisle instead of iavaroni. and what's the deal with this guy jacobsen? i mean, they released kinsey and bobby jones (who btw would be a great signing for orlando) and jacobsen is still on the roster? ***?

He's had one or two good games, but for the most part has been a dissapointment...

I don't blame him much personally. I think the team is just a mess and he hasn't been used properly

Actually, Darko has played very limited minutes because he is the one single player that defends the basket for Memphis. He is constantly in foul trouble becuase nobody on the Grizz gives a crap about D.

Last night's game, Darko finally got minutes without Gasol on the floor releasing his defensive assignment to Darko in the paint. Darko also was a factor in the offense as a result of Gasol not attempting 20 shots.

Whether it was a single game or not, it shows what Darko is capable of when he is given a larger role to fill.
