With Grant gone and a new roster, who will be our leader this coming season?

I can name the best players on great teams all day, too, but in the end it's still extremely hard to pin down "leadership" as a measurable quantity. All you really proved are that those players were incredibly good at basketball.

But I hate splitting hairs, which is what we're doing. Call it leadership or whatever, we just wanna see the Magic win.

Of course there are leaders and followers in the real world, but when applied to basketball the impact of that dynamic is minimal. Talent, desire and luck come first. Good example: let's say Puerto Rico has the best natural leader in the world playing on its team; they'd still lose to the USA by 30+.

Huh?

Magic Johnson!!! Now, Magic J was the ULTIMATE team leader. The Lakers were my favorite NBA team back in the day when Magic played for the lakers.

I was just mesmerized by the way Magic played and ran his team. I honestly believe that most, if not all of his teammates respected him.

Magic J was constantly "running his mouth", letting everyone know that losing that game was unacceptable.

Magic J's enthusiasm was contagious on his team.
