2016-2017 Trade Idea Thread

Recommended Posts

You guys are dreaming if you think we can get Lavine for essentially Biyombo.

Probably. But I don't think Lavine is that good. And I can envision a scenario where Thibs gets tired of his horrible defense.

so that plus a top 5 protected 2018 pick is about the most risk I want to bet on Lavine.

I wonder if it's Wiggins we want though.

eh I just don't really like lavine.

though i'll accept the gamble if it costs us basically biyombo who is suddenly less necessary with Vucevic having a defensive epiphany that I never thought was possible.

Yep on Vucevic's surprise defense. I will gladly eat my crow for saying that Vuch was basically what he was before the season started.

Ok, assume everything that isn't on the following list is fake:

Woj, a known ESPN/SI/CBS personality that doesn't operate by pumping out information (so Russilo or Marc Spears but not Windhorst), the local best beat reporter (so like I'd believe Robbins or even Schmitz but not Ping because we've proven a few times he just takes things he sees on here and promotes it), or some random source that also gets properly endorsed by a blogger (like last year when that local central florida sports podcast got the Jimmy Butler information and we got separate sources to confirm that they knew those guys and they had no reason to lie).

Nothing else.

(and definitely not Chad Evans)

here's the problem with your logic.

If Portland knows McCollum is great and a franchise changing player, why would Portland trade him when they can improve their defense in other, less team altering ways?

If Portland knows McCollum is alright and a good scorer but not that impactful. similar to Bradley Beal or a Goran Dragic. why would we blow up our team for him?

Easy... duplicate talent.

Easy... duplicate talent.

but it's not duplicate talent in the prohibitive sense because both guys are elite catch and shoot players and do a really good job at getting eachother assists. McCollum shoots 50% on threes when they come from Lillard. McCollum probably helps Lillard rest a bit as he doesn't have to be the full time ball handler when he's in the game. Plus they have a rotation which allows one of those two to be in the game at all times.

Portland has an elite offense but a horrible defense.

so why would they break up the one thing they have over other teams to fix something that can be fixed through a minor trade? Especially when there's an obvious trade candidate out there in Noel which shouldn't cost them an arm and a leg to obtain.
