GAMETHREAD: ORLANDO MAGIC @ OKC THUNDER

Recommended Posts

Totally agree with Skiles.

Post game points: We let an MVP caliber player go right down the lane comfortably. No foul, no knocking him down, no one came to help. Just not a winning mentality.

Also mention how their pg had 12 boards and our centers had 6

If you check the replay, Vucevic was being held by Adams so he couldn't contest the layup.

You do realize he hits EVERYONE with that slow ass crossover? His arms are long as hell and he can shoot over the top of everyone. Harris got worked but so does the rest of the league when the try and guard Durant.

It was his footing but doesn't matter. Totally agree with Skiles that the Westbrook drive hurt the worse. Also the offensive rebounds.

Yeah but there's 4 other guys on the court. A couple of them in the paint observing.

Also, Adams had Vuc's arm held but he had an free hand, Payton could live grabbed him. Just matador defense.

Man that was a rough loss.

Okc fans must think we're a borderline finals team if all they had to go by was the two games we've played them

it was rough for sure.

we need to address the PF position AG & Frye combined for 2-14 from the field..

All I can say is beat the teams we are capable of because we are unlikely to win these games. Against teams like this we are lucky if we get more than one or two questionable calls to go our way, and probably never in crunch time. The Thunder have to closers wh can consistently shoot against, even great D and swish shots, especially Durant.

We could have played Gordon in the 4th, but at the end, it's a judgment call. For all the good he does, he over-pursues and helps too much leaving people open. But with Hezonja shooting well and Fournier not, Mario should have played more.

Blame Harris all you want, but Durant does that to everyone and you never see it blocked. Even a hand in the face matters little when a player like him practices that shot so much and has the ability to shoot over anyone. On a earlier shot, Durant shoved Harris off to create space and got away with it, and I swear Durant was on the line. Be fair and consider the opponent. Trying too hard can be a hindrance sometimes, and is probably why he bit on the fake. And Tobias has time fulfill his contract and who else have we missed on because of money? Nobody. If we want a player money is a minor hurdle. Starting next year, his contract will be a steal with the huge rise in the cap. Improve the frontcourt and you'll see more from Harris. He can get better, and for all we know he is pressing to be what we all want instead of letting it come to him.

But, we had our chances, like Victor making a perfect cut and Vucevic not having the confidence to make a pass he is very capable of, or Frye being wide open and deciding to drive into traffic and get stripped.

This really hurts, but if we don't have a bigger lead late, OKC has the tools to make us pay every time. There is a reason we want Durant and it's because he can do this to anyone, you just hope he misses or passes.

The reason I was so adamant about not losing earlier games and bemoaning losses is because the 6 game stretch we are currently on game 2 of.We can play really well and still lose. We would be making a push if not for blowing won games recently. The positive is that Gordon and Hezonja are showing up now. And we are seeing how disposable Fournier is. We need big man help and a 2nd PG until Payton shoots better. Watson should be that guy if he can get healthy.

Just keep fighting and maybe we can get to the playoffs. Play possessed like Victor did, have fire like Payton, effort like Gordon, and ice in our veins like Mario tonight, and we will start winning again.

Asked about the final two OKC baskets, Scott Skiles said it was Russell Westbrook's unimpeded, uncontested layup that "really stung."

``You can’t really describe it because it’s such a really tough loss,’’ said Oladipo, who had 37 points, but couldn’t hit a heave from 30 feet at the final horn. ``Honestly, I don’t even know what to say. It’s just heartbreaking really, honestly.’’

``The one before (Durant’s game-winner) we let Westbrook drive right down the lane and lay the ball in the basket,’’ Magic coach Scott Skiles said disgustedly. ``Nobody came to help. You’ve got to contest that, knock him down, foul him; we can’t give up that layup there. That’s the one that really stung. Kevin made a big shot, but he makes big, tough shots like that. But for most of the night one again, our defense was off.’’
