The Official 2015-2016 Trade Thread

Free country bub. Even though your opinion is false. You can still speculate. Free country to be a homer or not too.

Cool. Just so long as we're operating with the understanding that neither of us has any real understanding of what Rob Hennigan, Scott Skiles, or Alex Martins is thinking. If you want to speculate on why you think this is a bad deal, do so. If you want to postulate why clearly Hennigan was overruled by Martins and Skiles, do so. But add something to the conversation, please.

The point of this deal is we don't have to keep paying Tobias the max for years to come for mediocre production. It will be interesting to see how Jennings and Ilyasova fit in with this team but it's unlikely they stay on beyond that, so we're pretty much just admitting we shouldn't have given Harris the big deal.

Why did we sign him then? Why did we sign just to get garbage back?

What is this front office doing. Make no mistake these are Skiles' guys

So does anyone think Skiles will start Jennings over Payton? I can't see it happening if they don't plan on re-signing him because you're risking a confidence issue by benching him for a temporary player. Plus Jennings' scoring ability makes him a better bench option.

its because we didn't add a sexy piece. Once Payton has a crappy game and Jennings goes 5/8 from three to help us win a game everyone will forget about harris.

Just like every other trade that's happened.

Sexy? I just wanted someone healthy and productive so we can get into the playoffs.

You know what's funny, a lot of folks didn't like the idea of Frye for Jennings because of his injury. We trade Harris for him and y'all love it.

We signed him because he was always going to be trade-able, and this proves that. We would have got nothing for him letting him walk. Instead, we got a stretch 4 that can actually play, and a chance of a good PG.

still worth it IMO. Got an extra 49 games to review Tobias. It'd suck if he went from 17 ppg on 36% three point shooting last year to 21 ppg the following year.

Instead he went for 13.7 on 31% and declining over the last 15 games.

its going to be interesting to see what stan can get out of him.

We re-signed him because we didn't want to risk him just going out the door but they realized that he isn't living up to the money and we are better off washing our hands from this mistake. You are right that the FO screwed up by giving him the deal but we got lucky to dump it for two straight up expirings.

Yeah because what I said has never been the case. Just keep those homer glasses on and enjoy what you see.

The end result of the JJ Redick trade: Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova. For a couple months.

I'm going to let that sink in for a while...

That's not the end result alone, we got a few years of production from Tobias Harris instead of JJ just leaving for nothing.

At the time, getting Brandon Jennings would have been universally loved. And no, we got Tobias Harris for three years, then Brandon Jennings and Ersan Ilyasova. Ersan might not just be a rental. This team needs a player like him long-term, so why not keep him?
