The OFFICIALish Training Camp Thread.

Hoping we keep Gladness, if nothing else he blocks shots which is one skill we really don't have on our roster. Like the look of Solomon Jones also. KOQ hasn't been impressive in preseason so far.

Just did some research on him. Turned 27 this year, averaged 1.1 blocks in 12.4 minutes per game with the Warriors in 2012 (18 games played, 7 starts)

He seems to play hard but do we have any roster space left?

Gladness seemed to be in the right place at the right time. I watched the highlights and easily blocked/palmed 3 shots out of the air. One thing I find interesting is on highlights he seems really really tall and at 6'11 I could see him taking minutes away from O'Quinn easily if he keeps this up. Gladness is doing what we all hoped O'quinn would do play tough defense and get blocks and boards and stay in the game longer than 5 minutes. Granted it is only pre-season he looked like he was playing for a roster spot.

We have "At most, the Magic will have two roster spots available — and they’ll have two only if they waive Hedo Turkoglu before the season begins", I could see its being Osby and Gladness or Jones. I think Osby is a lock though but I wont put all my marbles in that bag for now.

Cheers

That would be great. And the Miami Heat released Gladness several times, it would be hilarious if he became a good player for us

I think it's clear by now that Victor's ability to create his own shot was heavily overlooked before the draft. Thus far he's demonstrated off-the-dribble ability from three, mid-range and in getting to the rim. That said, I still want to see how Victor handles having to attempt a lot of shots. He was ultra efficient in college but he did it at a relatively low usage % and mainly played off-the-ball. It's clear he's making an effort to set up his teammates at the cost of his own offense at the 1. I also really would like to see him get more time with Jameer since Victor's ability to finish on lobs and cuts is a huge strength.

I like that he gets to the free thrown line a lot, that's been missing from the position for a long time. I appreciate Jameer's ft % but he just doesn't get there enough.

The Sixers just signed Daniel Orton. The tank is strong with this one

That's a solid move. Now they can save on those seat warmers.
