The Dwight Howard Drama Unfolds

Recommended Posts

The Clippers will have enough money to sign another max FA next summer. Not apples to apples now but possibly could be apples to apples next July.

no they wont

Griffin has already resigned for the max.

If D-12 comes to LA. Am sure Mitch will try to trade for Josh Smith trade almost happened, but Mitch wanted Teague, and Josh Smith for Pau hopefully next time around Mitch doesn't ask for Teague =).

Or Paul (UFA)

Bingo. If Dwight does end up in Houston, next summer will be very interesting for that reason.

Regardless of what fans want or think, I fully believe (and have been told) that Henny is targeting a deal with Houston. Obviously, things can change but Henny wants to hit the reset button.

Soul i get what you're saying. It's logical and makes sense. But we're dealing with Dwight Howard here, the most emotional and indecisive and perhaps whiniest superstar to ever player in the NBA. He won't go through a 41-41 season with rockets (yes, Dwight is that good by himself) just to wait for his best buddies to come over. At least, nothing he has said or done points to him being patient at all.

Dwight was 7 years in Orlando. He even gave them an additional year.

He's more than lived up to his end of the bargain with them. He's earned his right to be able to play wherever he likes in a year. Exiling him to a destination that makes his ultimate departure unnecessarily difficult is treatment he doesn't deserve.

Orlando has a right to get value in return. It's the job of the general manager though to accomplish BOTH objectives and it doesn't matter if it's really hard or a lead pipe cinch.

The Rocks making themselves willing participants in something like this just share in the sleaze.

Again I'm assuming that the reports that Howard does not or is not willing to consider Houston, are accurate.

No, he's earned the right to play where ever he likes as long as those destinations are able to acquire him. He is no more special than any other player in the history of the game. The job of the GM is to think about the team first. Hennigan has made an attempt to accommodate, any GM in their right mind would have hung up the phone and laughed at what Brooklyn was offering, the fact that we entertained the pile of **** they were offering for as long as we did can only be because we were trying to have everyone part on good terms.

The Rockets are participating in this because they are trying to do what is best for their team. This is the EXACT same thing that Billy King did in Brooklyn with Deron. Deron didn't even want to get on the plane to go to NJ and by the end of last year he was actively recruiting other players to go there, to a place he wanted no part of.

As far as what agents will do if we don't play nice with them, I would say that we just overpaid Jason Richardson (a HWNSNBU client) and traded for Gilbert (HWNSNBU) and all of those favors have netted us what? Agents do what is in the best financial interest of their client, they do not give a flying F about the team's best interest. This team has a long history of taking care of players in an effort to build the reputation as a franchise that treats it's employees well. When has one single agent ever done us a favor?? Think Rashard's agent was trying to be the voice of reason when Otis was typing up that retarded deal? One malcontent that has given us a list of 1 team he is interested in is not the mark of an entire franchise that rapes and pillages every player in the league. If players were directed away from owners that have a history of crapping on players why are people continuing to sign with the Clippers? Donald Sterling sits on the sidelines AND HECKLES HIS OWN F'ING PLAYERS!! Players are sheep, they follow other talent around and they follow the money.
