ufballer1986 12 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 Sure, you're set in about 5 or 6 year, same as you would be if you just let Howard walk. Or you might just start another rebuild at that point. Has any team ever tried to start three players drafted in the same year? The Wizards have had top draft picks for 3 or 4 years in a row (including a No. 1 pick) and had to absolutely blow that entire group up this year. Besides, most pundits say the Blazers way overpaid for Matthews and that Drummond does not have any desire to play hard. They also DO NOT say this is a ridiculously deep draft. They say this draft has one impact player on an All-Star level, Anthony Davis. And they also say next year's draft is really going to stink. well your going to need to draft well to compete in this league, whether u have multiple lottos or a late 20s pick. the only reason were in the situation we are, and are not the wizards, is because we got one pick right, Howard. that being said, the draft is a gamble any way you look at it, but better chances of hitting the jackpot with more picks. we could end up f'n them all up and sucking for 5-6 years but if howard leaves for nothing then we are garunteed to suck for 5-6 years. either way we'll have the capspace to sign a proven vet/star to try and avoid this. and yes, this year is somewhat reknown as a deep draft because of the number of kids that stayed in school for their soph years because of the lockout. Well we've had a guy who was a mediocre facilitator, a midget, great shooter, pathetic defender, and kind of fast. And Duhon who sucks at all the above. tblack7 3 Report post Posted June 24, 2012 What I find pretty interesting on this topic of trading Dwight is that people are forgetting the facts. The chances of Dwight Howard ending up in Brooklyn is 0% exactly. He will never be a Net. They only have 4 players under contract and even those 4 don't match Howard's contract and not to mention they're scrubs. 2nd-The NEts can't just simply outright sign free agents and trade them. There's usual a clause that states they can't be traded till a specific time and Howard's situation will be solved before training camp. This is why Stephen A is simply talking out his ass. Magic don't want what the Nets have to offer anymore. The question is now if Dwight decides he does want out where is there really to trade him to? Maybe the Thunder if they come calling with Westbrook? Maybe Melo? There really aren't a lot of options for Dwight to play and Hennigan is not going to just take back scrubs like from Houston or something. The realization is that Dwight may have no choice but to sign the extension.
