Nike 2 Report post Posted March 14, 2012 From ESPN: (link) Mike D'Antoni has resigned as coach of the New York Knicks, sources confirmed to ESPN Wednesday. D'Antoni D'Antoni D'Antoni's resignation was first reported by Yahoo! Sports. The Knicks (18-24) have hit a tailspin in the last two weeks, losing six straight and seven of eight to fall six games below .500 and into a tie for the eighth and final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. New York had high expectations coming into this season with Carmelo Anthony, Amare Stoudemire and Tyson Chandler on the roster. After struggling through the first six weeks, though, the Knicks went 8-1 in a nine-game stretch in mid-February on the strength of point guard Jeremy Lin, who electrified both the fan base and his teammates after being claimed off waivers in late December. Levenhagen 16 Report post Posted March 14, 2012 Team would have been better of cutting Carmelo. That dude is toxic. yep, that's what i've always thought too that team just can't win with him, they went on a 7 win streak when he was injured (or sick), then he comes back and they suck again, that's not coincidence
Secretly Space Jesus 670 Report post Posted March 14, 2012 A new coach isn't going to make Amare stop being invisible 36mpg and having uninsurable, untradeable knees.
BMP 424 Report post Posted March 15, 2012 I remember when people called me crazy for thinking Melo and Amar'e were an awful fit, especially with D'Antoni. I understand that Melo getting fat and Amar'e being Eddy Curry-like (although EC tried to get rebounds) certainly hasn't helped, but that was a disaster waiting to happen all along.
