Could be the end for a lot of guys

Nelson J.Rich and Bass or Anderson for Gay would give memphis alot of depth soild play and cap relief when its time to resign some of the role players

so they would have 2 starting point guards and would have to give an older SG a contract that btw also duplicates players they already have but cheaper and younger and much better defenders...

why would they need JRich and Redick? they just signed Tony Allen and have Mayo until at least 2012 which hey is the same as when JJ's contract ends

...and why in the hell would they want to give JRich a 31 year old his final contract? possibly a good contract - huh wait what?!

and on top of that your giving them Hedo's contract with at minimum $23 million owed to a team that does not need a SF and much less an expensive lazy no defense older one....Heisley does this why?

Mayo was barely getting minutes and was nearly traded at deadline. JRich gives them what Tony Allen will never be able to, which is scoring and spreading the floor. Who's talking about giving JRich a "final contract"? They'll also certainly need a SF if they trade Gay away (and especially if they lose Battier).

If they can trade Gay's contract for JRich, JJ, and Anderson, I don't see why they wouldn't consider this. It gives them two good young players that fit some needs off the bench, as well as gives them room financially to be able to retain Battier and match Marc Gasol's offer in 2012.

Hedo would only really be involved if they really decided to also give up Mayo and lost Battier, which would put them in a hole at SF that Hedo could fill and add a much better defender at the wing.

Nelson is NOT a starting PG but he is a good player to have in case Conley goes down and is expiring in 2 seasons also J.Rich would be great with the tempo Memphis plays providing scoring and wouldn't hurt their chemistry and Anderson would space the floor for ZBo or Gasol which is needed bc if they dont take jumpers the lane is clogged bc neither can draw there many out enough for the other to make a move

your argument is based on JRich getting around $6 -7M a year for a 31 year old player who's weaknesses where exposed with the Magic not to mention the position duplication your trade makes. Why wouldn't they just offer Battie that contract but much less $ and distraction than JRich?

Plus do the Magic really want to give up that combination of players for a player that doesn't play defense, horrible passer, and reputation for horrible shot selection for four more years and $60 Million? really ... don't you think anyone saw how efficient Memphis's offense got and how much better their defense got once Gay got hurt in February.

last I saw Jameer Nelson is paid like a starting point guard , and they just drafted and have on their payroll a very cheap and good young pg in Vasquez

Vasquez is a very good PG no question but who would you rather have if Conley goes down? Every player in my proposed trade expires in 2 seasons and J.Rich could very well do a 3yr deal and walk after the 3rd compaired to Gay contract that only gets Larger as it goes on.

...Iguodala has not asked Sixers management for a trade, but the team will be looking to trade him this summer.

Sixers coach Doug Collins has finally found a nucleus of guys - Thaddeus Young, Jrue Holiday, Lou Williams, and Jodie Meeks - who enjoy playing for the Sixers. Veteran power forward Elton Brand, in addition to having an anchor of a contract, serves as a complementary presence for those guys.

What Collins doesn't need is a borderline star answering questions vaguely about his desire to play for Collins' team. It's too much navigation at this stage of the building process, and Collins is too genuine to ignore Iguodala's half-statements and innuendo...

Iggy may be have become more of a realistic option.

important part of my statement was that Jameer "is paid like a starting point guard" - no way Memphis takes on a starters salary for a player they don't need at a position rotation that they are very happy with. The only advantage to them is that they get rid of Gay's contract but they can absolutely do better than what your proposal (anything the Magic can offer) in both cap relief, quality/position of players returned

I'm not sure where you think you'll end up if you continue to focus on certain player's weaknesses and not their strengths and continue to focus certain players' strengths and not their weaknesses

and there's no position duplication, unless you honestly think JJ and JRich are extremely alike

just being realistic...ignoring the fact that Memphis is in the middle of their best playoff run ever and a huge realization by their fans and ownership that defense wins playoff basketball. Tony Allen and Shawn Battier etc. have totally frustrated OKC's wings. The increased minutes to their defensive players due to Gay's injury showed them the way. Gay is a subpar defender who takes terrible shots a lot and is Bass - like in his passing willingness/ability.

Do you really think that Hedo/Rich's good offense / horrible defense did not have anything to do with Magic getting eliminated? In the past years it was perimeter defense of Barnes, Lee, or Pietrus that often kept us in games when our shots where not falling. Gay can score but will compound our already porous perimeter - putting strain on other positions to cover up that flaw.
