Knicks interested in trading for J. Will (CBS Sports)

So now we want Roy and Carter on the same team? :panicworker:

Why not? They would only have to play together this season while both are making big $$$

yep cause having two 6'6" wings who can pass, hit the three and take to the paint would suck...not to mention that it would really suck for SVG to have to figure out how to rotate either of them so that at all times you have a ball handling wing paired with either of our defensive wings

...why are people worried about Dwight getting his shots when those shots wouldn't be taken away from him but first from the PF (specially w/ no Lewis) then the PG etc... not from Howard..

What do you guys think of this?

T-Will/Murphy for Gortat/Pietrus.

T-Will gives us a young, do alittle bit of everything guy. Very athletic. Cheap contract. Murphy can gives us an expiring and another guy to space the floor to go with Shard. Great rebounder also.

Nets get a defensive big, something they lack with Lopez. They also get a pretty decent wing, who can't be anymore inconsistent than Outlaw.

Just a thought.

Roy might not be able to walk in 5 years, and he's on a max contract.

Anyone who would take Roy on this team is the same person who would complain about the trade when Roy got hurt 3 months later.

not saying its ideal but rather a response to VC for Roy comments made - here is some context to the conversation...

because of the size and length of Roy's contract there is no way the discussion should have Vince Carter in it ...IF (not saying I like it) but IF something for Roy where to happen it would have to include Rashard Lewis...

ex: Lewis/Gortat/JJ for Roy/Camby/Pryzbilla

Nelson/Duhon/JWill

Roy/Carter/Q

Carter/Pietrus/Q

Bass/Camby/Anderson

Dwight/Camby/Pryzbilla

- with this trade you still have VC expiring to upgrade plus you don't lose anything offensively and you make VC a third option

- down low our defense gets nasty with Camby and Howard two defensive 7's who can also play together high/low post together as Camby is most effective offensively as PF and Camby is better defensive bk up C than Gortat

- Pryz is an expiring $7M plus adds playoff size depth

Portland saves around a minimum of $30M from exchanging Roy for Lewis who fills their SF needs + get younger and cheaper at the C and SG

If they trade Roy (which I doubt) Camby is gonna be used to get younger and cheaper as they are no where near sniffing the playoffs without Roy -specially in the west... so why have a $12M 36 year old center on the books for 2 guaranteed years. He's a nice role player and a good citizen and all but for a non playoff team that's a huge waste.

You're right about the center situation with only Gortat --- so Pryzbilla probably stays for his expiring $7M but to match Lewis crazy contract his $ are needed

Camby would have to be part of it or why would the Magic risk that trade? he's the only incentive to take that huge a financial risk on Roy that I can see - otherwise what would be the point....Either way Magic owe someone $80 Million be it Roy or Lewis but to get a way better at backup C/PF with a tested playoff vet whose contract expires the same as D12's - Roy isn't that bad of a risk (as long as its for Lewis and not VC's expiring).

Yeah but Roy is basically the second coming of George Gervin and a rich man's Alex English meshed into one Superstar ready to take over the league on crutches.

Is Roy really that in bad shape? I feel terrible for the guy.

He's basically going to be avoiding contact for the rest of his life and in a year or two will probably not be playing more than 20 minutes a game, that is if he doesn't decide to retire so that he doesn't completely lose his knees.
