Technically, Barnes can be signed and traded.

 

However, because we don't have his Bird rights, and because you can't sign and trade a player who has been signed or re-signed with a CAP exception like the MLE, the amount he could be resigned for in such a scenario is only a small above what he made this past season, which was very very little. So his value in a sign and trade is basically non-existent.

I asked about the Barnes inclusion, and he said he was told it may take "some extra pieces" and just logically added Barnes as someone other teams might be interested in.

 

He did add that Barnes is likely gone, especially if we keep our pick and draft a wing.

Anybody could see our team doesn't really reward role players with long term contracts (besides the guys in FA of course).

still around 40 days away give or take. I'd have to drum up the day we signed him to determine the year exactly, but I'm not inclined at this time...
