Howard the best center, Gortat the best backup center?

Areas of strength:

Dwight Howard and Marcin Gortat are probably the best starting center and best backup center in the league. And in a league that's bereft of quality big men, that makes the Magic the envy of everyone. Both have barely tapped their prime.

Gortat is not the best backup center in the NBA. Whoever comes off the bench between Dampier and Haywood is better. Sheed is probably better than Gortat too.

So was Penny, but I guess they aren't counting those two because we technically traded for them.

Starting center very clear situation in Magic favor.

If we are talking about backup centers in this season of course Mavs had better backup also Cavs with Big Z.

 

And few other situations you could argue about,

 

In Suns if you count Channing Frye as center and Robin Lopez definetly if he was coming from the bench, Sheed was playing badly for Celtics in regular season but came back strong in post season. Pau Gasol is practicly Lakers backup center, they don't use bench rotation on this position, Birdman in Denver. Blazer will have nice 3way with Camby, Oden and Przybilla we'll see who's gonna play from the bench.

In that case they should include Chris Webber, 5 time all star, he was drafted by Magic in 1993. Shaq was drafted in 1992, another mistake in article.
