Dwight's Chat With The Ball Between Freethrows

Has anyone else noticed the little ritual Dwight does during opposing player freethrows? After the first shot, he grabs the ball, squeezes it, talks to it a bit and then rubs in some mojo from Turk or Battie before handing it back to the refs. It's hilarious to watch and I've yet to see a ref grab the ball away from him.

 

Can anyone sitting under the rim near the floor tell us what he's saying to the ball?

Yeah I saw him do that against Toronto. Dont know what he says tho, very funny

Ive wondered how this thread wasnt started a long time ago. Ive been noticing this for a long time now, and I have actually seen Dwight ask the ref for the ball, and the just hand it over to him. A particularly funny one was in the Detroit game the ref got the ball after FT #1, Dwight asked for the ball and started his routine, and Rasheed just snatched the ball out of his hands.

 

I am surprised he gets away with it without anyone saying anything. Seems like it would be a bit of a distraction to the FT shooter.

 

Its very entertaining though! He has like 4-5 different routines that he does now too.

This has already been brought up on here, I believe there was a thread on it, but definitely in posts. But it's an amusing thing to watch and it seems that lately Dwight's been doing it much more and that the routines have gotten somewhat longer.

I've been thinking ans seeing this almost all season long...I was wondering if I was the only one seeing it, but he does it every single free throw. I can't believe the refs are letting him and there's no delay of game or nothing...

if it's one of his guys he sings to it and kisses it for good luck, if it's the opposing team he does a whammy on it, and usually gets another player to add a slap for bad luck...

I think it was in its infant stage last season..but then it grew. Someone did start a thread on it last season. No one knows what he says to it though.
