Magic going in for Chris Paul

Logically N.O. management made the decision to cut costs and rebuild sometime ago. The perception that management is not able or willing to spend money is not good for ticket sales. N.O. obviously needed to look like they have tried their best to keep Paul. The public announcement that Paul wants to be traded, in my opinion, took longer that anyone wanted or expected. The Hornets Organization announcing that they are trying to change Paul's mind is for public digestion only and Paul will be moved. The Magic know this and are working on a trade proposal. Any proposed trade considered with N.O. taking on high salaried players doesn't make sense unless it is an expiring contract like Vince Carter. Where and when will Paul be traded? None of us will know until the decision is made. Not even the N.O.GM or Chris Paul. I like our chances because of Gortat and his salary for a starting center.

Unless the player spends a long time playing here, dead, or is in the Hall of Fame, I think you have to resist retiring the number. Shaq should be retired when he becomes a Hall of Fame Member. Kitno said the following in an earlier thread: "LeBron wanted to force SnT to Orlando until he discovered #6 was retired. True story." (#6 was retired in honor of the fans) http://orlandomagiczone.com/ev...=139102088#139102088 Retiring a number is serious business.

  5. CONFUSION AT PF POSITION? 1. The Agent for BASS was told that Bass would be given more of an opportunity this year. 2. SVG said that Richardson and Pietrus would compete for the SF position. (LEWIS playing PF?) 3. GORTAT was told that he was not being traded and would receive additional playing time.(PF?) 4. SVG likes ANDERSON a lot! (PF?) Who will play PF.. Bass, Gortat, Lewis, Anderson, or a player not yet on the roster? The obvious concern for Bass is his height. We need length for teams that we eventually face in the playoffs. Bosh(Miami) and Gasol(LAL), also PFs, have a 4 inch height advantage over Bass. As you know Otis said that he had discussions with Toronto about Turkoglu and admitted that specific Magic players were incl. The obvious conclusion is that Otis attempted a S&T for Bosh. It is also safe to assume that Otis is still on the hunt for a PF. Bass, in my opinion, will be a back up, if not traded.

Magic going in for Chris Paul

by Chad Ford ESPN: June 23 (going on 3 days old) 8:57pm http://espn.go.com/blog/trueho...-night-draft-chatter quote: It's time to end all of the Chris Paul speculation that grew like wildfire over the past few days. The Hornets did receive a few calls about Paul, but a very good source in New Orleans tells me they aren't trading him. Owner George Shinn may want to save cash, but he can't part with with his franchise cornerstone. MY THOUGHTS: Case for Paul staying: The new coach would not have accepted the job if he knew in advance that Paul was being moved. The franchise can't handle this move. It would be a financial disaster for a very weak franchise. The new potential buyer is in the oil business and is suffering due to the gulf oil spill. Case for Paul being moved: Paul will conclude the team is not making satisfactory moves to win and he'll want to play elsewhere. The NO fans will need to get tired of his complaining (not Paul's character)before any move will be made. This could take a long time. Summary: If Otis makes a deal with NO, it will be for Collison+.

Rumors of New Orleans point guard Chris Paul coming to Orlando for Vince Carter and Jameer Nelson seem to be more real than the Magic are saying. Local 6 sports director David Pingalore, through his NBA sources, is confirming the deal could be completed as soon as Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith finds a third team for Hornets Center Emeka Okafor. If for some reason that deal does not work, the Magic have a backup plan. The Chicago Bulls sent Kirk Hinrich to Washington on Thursday, and according to Pingalore's NBA sources, he could be traded with Al Thornton and Randy Foye for Vince Carter. Relax, Toronto needs to know what Bosh is going to do.

I realize there are quite a few of you that support each other and gang up on others...such was the case with Junkie. Telling the truth sets a person up for ridicule... but that won't discourage me.
