jack daniel 999 27 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 Something to watch for in the pre-season; The Battle of the SG'S It's a far cry from Dwyane Wade for new coach Stan Van Gundy, who must choose between these four mostly unproven prospects. Redick, the team's top draft pick in '06, showed little last season. Dooling and Bogans are career backups. Ariza, a swingman who also plays small forward, was solid off the bench last season. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/multimedia/photo_galle...ttles/content.7.html

Tough Break There 96 Report post Posted October 7, 2007 quote: Preseason or not. You play every game to win. Not true. You play pre-season games to fine tune your team and not get hurt. Wins and losses are literally meaningless. They might as well not even keep score.

True, the pre-season is for tuning your team and trying to decide whom you will be playing, not so much about winning or losing. It is a time to build some team chemistry before the season begins. Towards the end of the season you might not be playing to win either. If you have a better chance of getting a lottery pick the coach might play some of his bench more in an effort to loose. Then again if you are already a playoff team you play your bench more to rest the starters and to get the bench more playing time to see how they will do come playoffs. It all depends on how things are going for your team. So while the fans might think every game is played to win that isn't always true.
