Would you mortgage our future for Kobe?

Recommended Posts

ABSOLUTELY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The first deal wouldn't work b/c it doesn't include a star or borderline star. Smack's deal makes more sense.

Kobe is hands down the best guard in the league ... period. He shoots, defends, drives, etc.

So yes, I would give up anyone not named Dwight for Kobe.

Bad News ... You cannot trade a newly signed free agent for 3 months or until December 15, whichever is later. Rashard is out of the trading picture.

This is also a plan that allows us to guage just how competitive we can be while Kobe is under contract with us. If it works out, fantastic, then we extend him and we are contenders for another 4-5 years with Kobe and Dwight. If it doesn't work out, then fantastic, we ca let Kobe walk and have 25 million worth of cap space clearing in 2 years.

When trying to execute a trade, click on the "TR" by Rashard's name.

If we traded Rashard, it would ruin the chances of any free agent signing with us in the future.

It sends a bad message when you sign a free agent, max deal no less, and months later trade him away.

I'm kind of getting sick of some of the panzy azz comments being made on these boards.

"We don't want a player with character issues."

"We don't want to send a bad message."

"We want to keep our squaeky clean image and hire only choir boy ball players."

Give that crap a rest. Sometimes you need a player or two with an aggressive edge to them. You need a guy to go out and do the dirty work with a sinister snear. You need to be able to intimidate people to win basketball games.

In business, sometimes you need to get your hands dirty. And in this case, at least we have a lifetime supply of Amway soap to wash off the grime.
