Ned Ryerson 94 Report post Posted March 19, 2007 Is there any news on the new arena??? I see UCF's new arena and football stadium going up faster then ever, yet I haven't heard anything about a new arena downtown in a month or so. Whats the deal guys? Here is what the Convocation Center is looking like: http://ucfathletics.cstv.com/facilities/convocation-center.html# The actual photos are in flashplayer, so I can't post them here, but above is the link. I say the Magic start playing here.

Tough Break There 96 Report post Posted March 19, 2007 I've brought you up from the depths WP. I drive by that new UCF arena everyday, it looks a little like a mini Conseco Fieldhouse. I gurantee that arena is nicer than the current Amway when it opens.
Ned Ryerson 94 Report post Posted March 20, 2007 This from todays Sentinel: COMMISH ON CALL The Magic will know in a month or so whether the shovels will begin turning on a new arena -- or if they must find another funding method (or another city). The club feels good about the situation, but still need some swing votes by county commissioners. If the Magic sense they need some 11th-hour assistance, they can turn to a heavy-hitter: NBA Commissioner David Stern. Stern, who has been working with Sacramento officials on the Kings' arena issues, told the Sentinel recently that he would be on call for the Magic. Magic COO Alex Martins soon will meet with Stern, and acknowledges that the commish is willing to drop in for support. His white horse is parked outside his New York office and ready to ride. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/sports/basketball/magic/...?coll=orl-sports-col
