Dwight and Rashard do NOT expire the same year

Recommended Posts

I'm hearing many people claim they do. To clear up, Dwight is signing a 5 year extension with a player option after his 4th year.

Given inflation, and the growth of Howard, he will obviously take the player option to get a bigger contract (in Orlando even) in 2013.

We have 5 years left of Dwight (1 + 4/player option), but 6 left for Rashard.

Just clarifying.

yes, that's true. but now you have to speculate as to whether he'll take the option and all the other things that may happen in between. (can't we extend his contract before he opts out?)

why would he not take the option, at 85 million, he is severely underpaid due to the limitations of the CBA

he will get 150 million or more in his next deal if Rashard can get 120

and if we extend him, then the fantasy of him and Rashard expiring at once is gone as well

we're basically screwed until 2045
