GAME THREAD: BROOKLYN NETS @ ORLANDO MAGIC

Recommended Posts

It appears Nikola Vucevic will play for the Orlando Magic tonight against the Brooklyn Nets at Amway Center.

A lower-back injury has prevented the 7-foot center from playing in the Magic’s last three games.

“We’re still listing him as questionable,” coach Frank Vogel said after the Magic’s shootaround thismorning. “But I think he’s going to give it a go tonight.”

Having Vucevic back would shore up depth behind starting center Bismack Biyombo, who has played recently despite an injured left shoulder, and power forward Serge Ibaka, who has played occasionally at center during Vucevic’s absence.

Orlando (11-16) needs Vucevic back against Brooklyn (7-17).

The Magic have lost six consecutive home games, hurting their postseason chances.

“It’s not a good feeling,” point guard D.J. Augustin said. “We want to take care of home. In order to be a playoff team, we have to win at home. So it’s a very important game tonight forus.”

The Nets are next to last in the Eastern Conference standings. But the Magic’s six-game home losing streak includes losses to four teams that had losing records: the Phoenix Suns, Washington Wizards, Milwaukee Bucks and Denver Nuggets.

“Nothing’s going to be easy about tonight,” Vogel said. “It’s easy to say, ‘We’re finally playing a home game. It’s not a back-to-back and a tough back-to-back. And we should be able to get this.’ But this team is a threat. They can really score the basketball. We’re going to have to work extremely hard to get this win.”
