2016-2017 Season Discussion Thread

How so? Yes, the trade was a three way deal, but Utah simply gave up #12. Surely we could have included something other than Sabonis for Ibaka. Honestly, it's clear that after four coaches and the same projected starting PG, Henny has a love affair with Payton.

Ohhh you wanted us to be Utah, my bad.

yeah, I don't know. I think I'd rather have Ibaka than Hill especially considering I think we'd have an easier time getting Hill this Summer than court Ibaka on another team.

I'm trying to think of an NFL analogy where a GM has refused to move on from the same project QB thru four coaches. Thankfully, Vogel has had the guts to finally move Payton to the bench, which should signal to ownership it's time to find a new floor leader (and maybe a new GM).

It's pretty likely that we move to a Payton-Fournier-Gordon-Ibaka-Biyombo lineup sometime this week.

EDIT: or that lineup with vucevic in for Biyombo.

What if we could trade Fournier and our 2017 pick for Malik Monk.

actually, the other team is offering an unprotected 2018 pick instead of Malik Monk

same thing, right?

OKC got enamored by Sabonis. they wanted him specifically.

no, you're completely missing my point.

I'm not arguing that Ainge isn't a good GM.

here's my point:

1. Good GMs make big trades

2. No GMs have made big trades over the past few years

therefore there are no good GMs? or the initial premise is flawed?

3. Danny Ainge is a good GM

Therefore #1 is incorrect.

Maybe there was a deal but Rob didn't pull the trigger but should've.

Weren't we rumored for Butler?

Vertical Sources: NBA, NBPA project salary cap to rise to $120M in 2020, with $143M tax threshold. Up from $94.1M in 2016, $103M in 2017.

Whoa...thought it was supposed to start evening out.

Just talking. 90% of the stuff we talk about is hypothetical. Especially when we suck.

Like I said, I'm not calling for him to be fired. I don't trust management to bring in any savior of a GM to replace him. With the length of duration this has been, the book of criticism should be open though.
