Magicman28 295 Report post Posted June 16, 2017 you're missing my point. scouting is an inexact science because you can't know everything about a human being. you can only draft as best you can. Philly is absolutely right to take Jackson at 3 but if he ends up failing it's not because Jackson was the wrong pick. He just didn't work out. Because you're taking high school kids, often from poverty and sticking them in extremely controlled places where their entire lives are dictated for them and they succeed with that structure. then you take those same kids and give them more money in one year than their parents and grandparents have made in their entire life. and you remove the structure. it's now up to them to build their own structure. Results vary. I see. You're referring to more of the personal side. Character, work ethic, etc. Not so much skill.
Fultz4thewin 2,464 Report post Posted June 16, 2017 I see. You're referring to more of the personal side. Character, work ethic, etc. Not so much skill. right. like Detroit wasn't stupid for drafting Darko. he was skilled enough to be the number two pick even in that draft. he just wasn't capable of moving overseas and succeeding. plus other character issues. I think that's the reason most of these guys fail. and that's also the reason I always try to project guys at 70% of their ceiling. because the Iversons or McGradys or Randy Moss "take it easy, show up, and be better than everyone based on a weird superhuman gift" type guys only come around so often. and very few people have that Jordan "competitive to the point of mental illness" gene. most guys are comfortable being "better than average". Nyce_1 311 Report post Posted June 16, 2017 it doesn't happen very often. I'm thinking it probably ends up like 2009 where you have griffin, thabeet, harden, evans, Rubio, Flynn, curry, hill, derozan, Jennings. so you get 4 to 5 "star-ish" players, 3 busts, and 3 guys who sort of ended up in the middle. agree. praying we get one of the 4-5 "star-ish" players. did some film review last night and i'm back on DS over JI. My only concerns are his short wingspan and already repaired knee.

Woooaaahhh Lowe: In current parameters, BOS would receive several picks and no players, sources say. Have to think No. 3 would be involved. https://t.co/xHYANlYzeT
