2017 NBA Draft Thread

Recommended Posts

It makes me a little anxious that this draft hasn't developed a consensus yet. Most scouts are saying that 2-7 could go in any order. We've been tied to monk, smith, Isaac, and tatum in most mock drafts and also some odd situations where we end up getting Jackson.

That's why I like where we pick

Toronto picked Norman Powell in the second round.

Norman Powell was redundant.

Toronto was able to trade Ross because they had Powell.

You always pick best player available unless you have a complete team and are looking for players to fill a specific role.

Wow Norman Powell? What an upgrade. You only pick a redundant player when it is an actual improvement that is a better option than the other perceived choices. In other words improving your team in vast increments should be number one not by slight amounts.

Malik Monk is the most explosive scorer in the draft. The Kentucky freshman became a household name when he dropped 47 points on North Carolina, including a game-winning 3-pointer in the final seconds, in December. Monk has a rare combination of athleticism and shooting ability, with unlimited range and a lightning-quick release that allows him to get a shot off from anywhere on the floor. He could go as high as no. 3 overall to Philadelphia, but he may not have the upside of some of the more versatile players projected to go in that range, like Kansas freshman Josh Jackson or De’Aaron Fox, his backcourt partner at Kentucky. There’s a ceiling to how good a one-dimensional player can be, no matter how good he is at that one dimension.

this is a good monk story discussing the issues he had with spacing and how that negatively impacts his projection.

basically if he played with another shooter instead of fox, Briscoe and bigs he would have got to the rim more and we might not be talking about him as a one dimensional player.

Who's been the most accurate over the years? DX?

DX but not until their final one the afternoon of the draft. and even then some years they go way off. like last draft they had Jaylen Brown 8th.

But consider someone like Damian Lillard.

they had him 13th on may 21st. 10th june 20th. 6th in their final mock and he went 6th. So the closer they get to the draft the more accurate it becomes.

Yeah I figured. They've always been good with anything draft related.

Check this lil nugget out

Per @DWolfsonKSTP, Jonathan Isaac has no interest in working out for teams outside of top 4. Wolves have tried, but have not had any luck.
