Official Gamethread: ORL vs PHI

About the plus/minus stat, if a player is in the game and the other 2 guard nails 3 pull up threes and you're not even covering him, everyone on the court goes -9. If your starters give up a 7 point run and the bench comes back, and the starters keep it within a point after that, the starters go -6 and the subs go +7.

Basically depending on substitutions and scoring runs it can be seriously distorted and often totally useless.

In a game of runs, every NBA game, it's hard to learn anything from. Just hope the people who think this stat is everything realize how little it means unless the starters or same 5 players play all game. You should see how the player got that +/- before you judge.

Yeah but in a game we won by 4, Payton was -16.

The lenovo stats are only good if you're watching the game. Payton liability as a scorer is what made him -17. That and the fact that there was no urgency beginning in the third. Payton was the only player who didn't make his way back on court because he played the worst.

That is true but that 9 point comeback (or whatever it was) and subsequent benching skews that number badly. I don't think he played after much , meaning he was around -7 (if it was a 9 point comeback).

Just saying it can be deceptive. -7 and -16 is a big difference. He was partly at fault so maybe give him -10, but it's better than -16.....

He had a bad game in a game we won. This is a team game, so it means little. It just bothers us because we know he is better than -anything!

We can't get complacent. These guys took games from us while Vaughn was here, we have to sweep them this year

Need to beat these bad teams if we want to have a shot at the playoffs, plain and simple.
