The Official 2015-2016 Regular Season Thread

Yeah, but Gordon isn't Cousins. Cousins is 6'11 270 lb center who likes to shoot threes when he's trailing a play.

Draymond is 6'6, 6'7. Gordon is 6'9. The height means nothing. It's the fact that they all play with some versatility. Gordon continue to get stronger and start committing to being an versatile PF. Cousins plays like an 6'11 Draymond. He almost had an triple double last night.

So when do they officially announce who's playing, and starting, tonight?

Usually about 5

Payton is out though. Fournier is questionable. Smith is probable.

The Magic And Victor Oladipo

Oladipo was anointed as the future of the franchise and he was given a very wide berth to figure things out.

Then the Magic changed course. The Magic opted to fire head coach Jacque Vaughn last year as it was clear that the team was stagnating and not progressing. Skiles was given a very clear directive: Win basketball games.

While this was good for the fans, better for the team and excellent for some of the more established players like center Nikola Vucevic and forward Tobias Harris, it did not line up with the original plans for Oladipo or Gordon.

The Magic have not soured on Oladipo. They simply have backed up the process. That’s frustrating for Oladipo because the Magic are trying to reel him back in a little and win games in the process. That same process has not created much of an opportunity for Gordon either.

Both were supposed to be the cornerstones of the future, but in a win-right-now situation, neither are nearly ready or developed enough to play at the level or consistency that a coach like Skiles demands and expects.

That’s not either players’ fault. The game plan in Orlando changed. The Magic want to be in the postseason this year..which means letting them figure things out on the floor is no longer going to happen – at least not as freely as it did during the obvious rebuilding years.

The height is actually kind of important. It's no coincidence basketball players are usually pretty tall.
