Only time I can remember off hand, where one was hired who had no ties, was in fact Hennigan.

Possibly. I wasn't at the interview. If I had to break it down though, it would be like this... He did some assistant work under Pop who Henny knew and respected. Since both the Magic (from JV as a player) and Henny(from Pop) were familiar with JV and his professionalism, and knowing they would suck for at least 2 years, he could very well bring some good advise from what he learned under Pop while also being young enough to connect with the young players. On top of being inexperienced, Henny (and Martins) could mold the team as they seem fit without much conflict from JV.

 

 

Other variables than just nepotism but as a Magic fan since 89, I'd be an idiot to act like it doesn't nor has never played a role. Hell, look around the way the world is now. For many, it's who you know.

I think your "or" option is impossible. You do remember what kind of guy Skiles is right? No way he would mesh with D'antoni.

Thibs is employed at the moment and I suspect, his team will go to at least the conference final. I just don't buy he's automatically unemployed after this season.
