The Official Dwight Howard Everything Thread

Recommended Posts

Yes, the D12 situation appears to be resolved now. So the next task for the FO now that he's off the market...Operation Get Batman a Robin. I'd take a wild shot in the dark and contact NJ about Deron. If Dwight is indeed opting in, I don't see him sticking around there for a year in the off chance Dwight comes there then. And NJ risks him walking this summer for nothing. Would almost definitley have to get more teams involved but worth taking a shot at it....

Oh the irony. Wouldn't that be one of the best basketball stories if we could pull that off after all the Nets crap we've had to put up with...

Would be nice is some of you actually knew what you were talking about. On Mike and Mike they were saying that Dwight NEEDS to opt out of his current contract because of the new CBA. By Dwight opting in, he can only sign a 3 year extension with the Magic. By opting out, he can resign with the Magic for 5 years. When the CBA was written, they reworked one of the rules. This is just a unfortunate situation that was never expected when they were creating the new CBA. Dwight Howard needs to OPT OUT so we can sign him to a longer and more lucrative contract.

We need him to Opt in for us to be able to make moves for Dwight , but the way all these "experts" talk they want Dwight in a big market.

He is just giving them more time to get him help I think, not a full blown commitment.

ok i went back a couple of pages and haven't seen anything new. Is he still supposedly signing the papers? or has that changed since it seems to change every few seconds.

Not saying it could actually happen but it would be so funny if it did. Imagine the looks on some of these clueless analysts if that trade actually went down. BTW it will be interesting to see where he ends up now, might end up with the Lakers for Gasol or something (salaries match up)

There's going to come a time, whether it is this year or next that Dwight will need to Opt Out or let his current contract expire. There is no getting around that. That is what ESPN is saying. The new CBA was re-written with how extensions are done so one way or another Dwight will have to "test" Free Agency. It is up to us, to make him want to come back and if we sit idle we are ruining our chances.

So ESPN has been debating if we can make these moves, are we able to bring in more help or do you still trade him. That's the discussion. ESPN is not trying to force a hand, they are just trying to educate us.
