Offseason Thread Part VII: The Fall of The Lockout

For a moment, I thought the stool in front of him were crutches

Does anyone appreciate the irony of this turds jersey? I mean, it wasn't long ago that metta threw down with fans at the palace. Now he's on the 'peace' bandwagon. Send him to the middle east!

This is just like the Kobe trade demands from a few years ago. Kobe never wanted to leave the Lakers but he didn't want to stay there if they weren't going to bring in somebody that made him believe they could win.

Dwight is in the exact same boat. He really doesn't want to leave but he is letting the FO know that they have 2 options as far as he is concerned. (1) Bring in Monte, Iggy, CP3, Deron Williams, Insert any above average back court player or (2) Trade me because you really don't seem that committed to winning a title. Martins seems to be the guy holding things together and Otis is probably doing everything he can to bring in somebody that he believes can help us win and that Dwight believes can help us win.

I do not believe that we need to bring in CP3 or D-Will to win a ring. This team is already in a really good position. If you look at the roster we are now only one guy away from contending for it all. The Big Baby upgrade was huge and bringing Richardson back was good because he is a shooter and we got him for pretty cheap. If you really think about it Richardson is the old vet that can still play well that threw the Magic a bone to come back and win a ring with Dwight. The position we need to now upgrade is the wing position. The ultimate guy we need is Iggy because he could distribute well to Richardson and Dwight while being the attack the rim guy this team desperately needs. Not to mention he is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.

If we could somehow pull this trade off we could definitely beat NY and Chicago while going head to head hard with Miami.

The real answer is why would each team do this trade? Orlando would do it for obvious reasons. If you remember the Sixers and Warriors were in heated trade talks to swap Ellis and Iggy before the lockout but things fell apart. Golden State wants to dump Ellis and get out from under Biedrins contract. Redick would bring the size they want at SG and Brand would definitely upgrade their PF position. The good things is both guys have very little time on their deals so the move isn't restrictive long term. Philly wants to move Iggy so they can move forward with Evan Turner. They have problems at PG and Turk could be the point-forward solving that issue. Anderson is a young up and comer who bring tons of value for his cheap price. Ellis would bring scoring which they lacked a lot last year and Biedrins would bolster the C position which they have needed since they lost Dalembert. Its a win-win-win all the way around.

Here's something nobody is talking about. Avery Johnson is every bit the grouchy disciplinarian that Stan can be. Sure D12 would appreciate that.
