if shaq was the gm of the magic how will he will fix the team?

Recommended Posts

boomer is my favorite poster here. Every time he posts I get excited for what's in store for me when i open the thread.

Seriously though, this is probably some young magic fan who has no idea how the internet works. I wonder if i can ban him from creating threads but let him still comment...

edit: yeah, I just decided to make every new post he makes up for approval.

Awww man...

I was hoping for a 'If Steve Francis was the coach of the Magic, which rotation would he use?' thread.

Hello all. Being a new guy to post on the forum I see a lot of hate towards new comers and an unwritten rule from a seniority heirarchy that prohibits the new members from posting a comment or starting a new topic. Now I would first like to say that multiple ridiculous new topics started by the same person or multiple members, I see can get a little annoying, however since there is not an area for New members only to post new topics (maybe a suggestion for the site) where are we allowed to start topics? That only leaves the areas where every member on this site has the ability to post and read other members posts. Is there not the option of skipping over a post you feel to be of non interest to you? Or do the multiple "stupid" topics move the "intelligent" topics to page 2 or 3 and off the main page and you are then required to search for them?

When it comes to sports and the fans of that sport, everyone has their reasons for watching that sport.

*Some watch for social reasons to hang out with friends and/or even drinking games..example every free throw made equals a shot or something like that.

*Some watch because they used to play or coach and their knowledge of the game is endless

*Some watch for betting purposes and know the free throw percentage of every player, know how they play when they are in the high mountains of denver and when they play here in Orlando. They have spreadsheets created with all this data and it's someone you do not want to get in an argument with as they will shut you down with statistics.

There are other reasons why people watch the sport but I figured I would narrow it down to just 3. Basically this site has a mixture of all of these. With that being said not everyone's knowledge of the game is on the same level. Some people want to come on here just to express an opinion or thought and are immediately shut down by a member of the seniority class on this forum, and it's obvious that there are "clicks" here as well. Now again not everyone's level of Intelligence is matched with other members on this forum, however they sign up just to get in the conversation. None the less we are all fans of the Orlando Magic, and some of us like myself are locals here in town who have lived here for years and remember the days of Donald Royal, Nick Anderson, Penny, Shaq, Joe Wolf, etc.

Now I have been a member for a short time however came to this site before I had an account to read some posts, so my observation has not started when my account was created. Also nobody has directly said anything towards me but I ask you where is it allowed on this forum for a new comer with a thought or opinion to voice it? Also what is the point where you are allowed to start new topics? Is there a time period or number of "Intelligent" posts earn you points and you are then voted in by the high counsel and granted the ability to start new topics and freely post?

Sincerely,

A new comer looking to join the conversations

Welcome.

You can voice your opinion wherever but creation of new threads is only allowed if that thread brings new discussion that couldn't be accomplished in a thread already in existence. This may not seem like a big deal right now as we're in the off season and only a few new threads are created every day. During the peak times during the year if we didn't limit new thread creation we would have pages and pages of pointless topics that don't encourage discussion and move legitimate threads to the second page.

I don't think you were here when Boomer created multiple, and i mean multiple, ridiculous threads. Trust me, some of it is warranted.

But good starting post! :happypuppy:

Thank you and Point well made! I appreciate the timely reply!

I can see multiple new irrelevant topics to the majority being started to be annoying. However to that member it's how they feel and it's their opinion. Ultimately numerous new topics do I guess take up space. After witnessing multiple occasions of members being put down for expressing their feelings on a certain issue already posted or that of their own (possibly not the most intelligent posts) I began feeling a little discouraged to put up my thoughts.

Thanks again!

Since L4TW and his posse won't lock this thread, it looks like I have to take this matter into my own hands.

TO THE OMMB HQ's!
