JJ - Time to Get Up Off the Mat

Recommended Posts

I'm reading the Sentinel this afternoon and they're indicating JJ is out again tonight! I can't imagine what a guy goes through with a strained abdominal muscle but can it be this bad to keep him out 8 games and yet Stan says he doesn't need surgery? Did Grant Hill's advice leave too many people thinking it's worse than what it is? Can the team keep buying their time until his absence starts to really take its toll. Waiting too close to the playoffs could throw everything out of sync. Remember Jameer's come back after being most of the 2nd half was the beginning of the end.

Come on JJ...get better soon and get back on the court.

The Magic are on a win streak. Chill out. On the other hand, abdominal strain can take some time to heal, several weeks at times. But it involves MUSCLE. This is not a surgical issue. He'll be fine.

According to the Sentinel this morning JJ flew to Vancouver to see a Specialist and according to Stan will not make the road trip staying at home to rehab. If my memory serves me right, Grant Hill saw a Specialist in Vancouver when he had that problem. At least JJ's pursuing 2nd opinions from the experts.

Everyone else said it: our playoff positioning is pretty much set, barring a big fall from Miami or Boston (the latter being the most likely, as they'll probably start sitting their starters pretty soon), we're in the fourth spot. There's no reason to risk a guy who's a key part of our rotation.

Let him heal up, get him healthy for the playoffs.

I could change my mind if we end up losing some games, but so long as we are winning without him, and so long as we are on a stretch of games against opponents we SHOULD beat, then I say let him keep resting.

He really just needs to play in the last two or three games before the playoffs to get back into "game shape" or whatever the kids are calling it these days.

Agree. JJ is the least of my concerns heading into the playoffs. It's unlikely he'll log big mins in the 1st round anyway. ATL is a terrible matchup for JJ. He'll struggle to get/stay on the floor due to matchup problems w/Joe Johnson & Crawford.

Last year he averaged about 14 mpg and logged the majority of his mins in blowouts & matched up vs. Mo Evans. He played a combined 12 mins in two games. With the addition of Hinrich, Crawford is playing fewer mins at PG, & the only 3 wings ATL will show Orlando are Johnson, Crawford, & Williams. He just needs to get right & get ready for round 2. I suspect Q will be more important vs. ATL.
