D. Aldridge(NBA. com) ranks Magic Off-Season No. 25(link)

No. 25 -- ORLANDO MAGIC

2009-10 RECORD: 59-23, first place, Southeast; lost in Eastern Conference finals to Celtics.

ADDED: G/F Quentin Richardson (three years, $7 million); G Chris Duhon (four years, $15 million); F/C Daniel Orton (first round, 29th pick overall).

LOST: F Matt Barnes (signed with Lakers).

RETAINED: G J.J. Redick (three years, $19.5 million).

THE KEY MAN: G Jameer Nelson.

Everyone on the Magic says the same thing: when Nelson is going, Orlando is close to unbeatable. But he didn't get going against the Celtics' Rajon Rondo, who dominated Nelson in the East finals. And with Chris Paul saying that Orlando is his preferred destination, it's gotten people talking. But it would be a shock if GM Otis Smith gave up on Nelson, whom he loves for his toughness and leadership. And it would be a shock if Nelson didn't respond with a huge 2010-11 season.

THE SKINNY: Can't give Orlando a great offseason grade for only matching an offer sheet on Redick. But the Magic are in much better shape than most of the teams on this list. Nobody else has Dwight Howard and almost nobody else has quality big man depth like Orlando, which can bring Marcin Gortat and Brandon Bass off the bench. But the Magic have some decisions to make. Should they pull the trigger and deal Vince Carter for the likes of Gilbert Arenas, or package Nelson and some of that big man depth and try to get Howard a Pau Gasol-like second? Or should Orlando stand pat and give a team that was playing the best basketball in the league -- until meeting Boston -- another chance to get back to the Finals?

Or until they play the Heat....

Well, they won, so that must mean Rondo dominated Jameer!!

You know, even though he posted his worst playoff numbers that year while playing against Orlando.

Rondo was below-par (as far as Rondo goes)

Jameer was below-par (although 17ppg/5rbs/5assists on 43% shooting is hardly below par for Jameer, excluding the last half of the season and first two rounds)

Barnes/Wincent/Redick got dominated by Pierce/Allen

***? Aldridge is a god **** idiot. Jameer had 3 20 pt games against Boston and averaged almost 18 ppg. Yea he never got going and got dominated. Kill yourself idiot.

He really didn't get going until game 4.

Nobody can deny that what Rondo did in G2 and G3 practically decided the series. So even if he did not statistically DOMINATE Nelson, his superiority was very important (along with Pierce, Allen and the bench obviously great performances) for them to easily win the ECF.

Rondo dominated Jameer!? Since when??

The truth is Vince Carter disappeared from Games 2 through 6 (although granted the entire team disappeared for Game 3). That's why we lost the series.

That and SVG's stupid decision to not have Barnes on Pierce for the first two games of the series. VC on Pierce allowed Pierce to get his game going. If not for that decision, we may have won one of our first two home games, and the series could of been completely different if not at least gone the full 7.

But no.. Rondo certainly did not "dominate" Jameer. I thought Rondo pretty clearly had a better series against the Cavs than Magic.

Jameer had a 20point/9 rebound game 1.

Empty numbers... come on man. We had a good 4th quarter. You know you didn't see a good Jameer until game 4.

I wouldn't call it a stupid decision. Carter isn't good (err... he doesn't care to) run through screens and having him chase Ray Allen through screens every single game wouldn't have gone very well, so unless you had JJ starting over Vince, it was still the better choice. Granted Pierce ate him up, he still made a lot of tough shots.

The main thing with Pierce, as well as matchups in general, is not to just play defense well, but make the guy WORK on the other side.

Jameer and Vince played well in game 1. It's not empty at all. A 5'4 point guard grabbing 9 rebounds shows you just how much effort he was giving out there. ****, Jameer averaged more rebounds that Vince Carter in that series.
