Wow! I'm stunned by shooting %'s of Jameer/Vince(ESPN link)

Recommended Posts

It's easy to just look at black & white stats and say, hey these guys stink! But what that stat sheet doesn't show is the guys have been in and out of the lineup. It's not like Jameer and Vince have been 100% healthy all season.

These statistics are more indicative of how well our team is shooting rather than how poorly Vince and Jameer are playing (though vince did have that horrible month)

I might as well start a "Wow! I'm Stunned by the shooting %'s of Dwight Gortat (ESPN link)" thread than show how they're both at the bottom of FT% and 3pt %.

Forget about their FG% for a moment....this team can't simply stop The Cavs and Nelson can't stop anyone. Alston was a poor shooter, but he did a better job defending the opponent PG.

JN can't even run a fast break now days. He did a horrible job last night. Can you imagine what Mo Williams would have done to Nelson if he was playing?

You can't use just one stat to develop an opinion about a particular player. You can look at the body of their work and determine who is most efficient. Jwill clearly has one of the best percentages on the team, has one of the best assist/to ratios in the entire league, and (the kicker) look at percentage of games one with Jwill starting vs Nelson starting. That stat really doesn't like. Nelson maybe still hurt, not 100%, whatever, but SVG has an obilation to put the players on the floor who give us the best chance to win, and last night, (fourth quarter) it was clearly Jwill and JJ. Most any alert coach would have recognized that and made the proper decisioin. AS always, I could be wrong.

Assist to turnover ratio is a stupid stat and should be completely removed from this world altogether.

Well you are using pretty deceptive tactics in order to push a certain agenda. When you look at the data in the realm of the league Nelson and Vince are playing badly on a elite team which might as well be playing above average on an average team.

You make it seem like Nelson's AFG% is horrible but he's better (or comparable to) some of the best players in the NBA at the position.

Guys like Chris Paul Steve Nash and Deron Williams have a lot greater statistics (in the realm of what we're talking about here) but is that a testament to Nelson's poor skill? Its more indicative of the mastery they have at the position.

People generally have a "grass is always greener" mentality with the majority of our players, when you stack them up to the rest of the league though you can truly see their value (much like its easier to see JJ's value now).

Exactly. Some people try to put these players down because they don't have the stats of Chris Paul, DWill, and the DWade's of the league.

no. 4 out of 14 fg and 4 turnovers. now that's a stupid stat.
