Captain Hi-Top 791 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 It's not as simple as don't call it. That is the current way things work. If the refs see a flop, they don't call it. If they don't think it's a flop, they call the foul. In other words, it pays to flop because there is no penalty for flopping, only reward. The problem is, it's not easy enough for a ref to tell most of the time. They aren't watching the specific incident all the time, and they can't go to replay. We had an extensive thread about how to fix this , some time last season. It wouldn't be very difficult to review games after the fact, or even a set number of plays after the fact, and assign a tech to players for any flop that lead to a foul being called on the opposing team. You start doing something like this effectively, and guys will stop flopping.
BMP 424 Report post Posted November 28, 2009 A tech + fine will definitely decrease the numbers. Not much else that can be done.

Not much else that can be done. i agree but i also dont want to see it a tech in this league as the refs the have more ammo to decide out comes. id just rather see these old guys out and get some younger refs in who will keep up and actualy be in position to make calls and that involves moving in the half court as well when the play is consantly moveing and the refs dont they are always going to to be out position hench the number of antipaction calls that are made today. Vellassco 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2009 "We wouldn't flop if they set (legal) screens," Raptors coach Triano said. "We told our guys watching (pre-game) tape, they move on every screen. And they (officials) don't call it if you don't hit it. You can move all you want, but if I don't make contact, it's not illegal. So we told them, if they move on the screen, hit it and fall and then they have to call it."

So what would Jay's excuse be for the flopping that Bosh and Calderon do every time they play against us? Illegal better offensive team? Illegal superior post play? Boston does set a LOT of moving screens but Tor also flops against a LOT of other teams.
JoveS 0 Report post Posted November 29, 2009 Yeah we'll all agree that flopping is bad but really his own boston teamates aren't much better especially Pierce and him flopping on almost every drive.
