It’s either Philly leaking or George’s agents leaking for sure. Either Philly to spook everyone else or George to use as leverage for LAC. It ain’t over til it’s over for sure. All we know is that George is meeting with us, Philly and the Clippers and can’t even legally do so for another hour and a half. It’s a big market league, so of course all the media are going to drive narrative away from us.

Yeah, I’m curious to see what we’ll do especially with WCJ’s injury history like you mentioned. I just don’t see the 5 spot being that big of a weakness that you blow half or more of our cap space on a guy that doesn’t raise our ceiling that much. If it’s Hartenstein or nothing, sure bring him in, but we can’t prioritize him over guys that fix bigger weaknesses. I’d be perfectly happy with our center rotation being the same as it was last year, a mix of WCJ, Moe, JI and Goga

Morning thoughts on the big day… We’ve had close to 15 years of consistent hurt since the Dwightmare. Very few things have gone right in that time and most of them have gone very very wrong. We hear us linked to our first big name FA in forever and the natural response is he’s using us to boost his value to someone else. I get it, and I’m trying to avoid feeling it too. Paolo and Franz have changed things, folks! PG followed Paolo on instagram a couple weeks ago and I believe they worked out together. We already have a good roster to sell to George, we don’t need to say “you’re the piece that’s gonna help us get more pieces” like Philly and LAC will. Also, PG recently spoke about playing basketball the right way as a desire of his. I don’t think he has any desire to play with Embiid and his foul-baiting BS. Not to mention Embiid’s health issues and the limitations that puts on the Sixers ceiling. I’m cautiously optimistic going into this evening, and regardless how it turns out, it’s a damn good thing for this franchise that we have a seat at the table for one of these discussions. It’s been a long time.

I don’t like the idea of spending a boatload on Hartenstein or any other Center unless we’re trading Wendell.

I think one of the best things if George comes here is that it’s as a FA, and we still have all of our assets to make secondary and tertiary moves. We have all of our picks, we have a slew of young talent that would be appealing in deals. We also won 47 games last season and we’d be pretty much running it back except with Paul George, Anthony Black and Tristan Da Silva replacing Gary Harris, Markelle Fultz and Joe Ingles in the rotation. To be fair, Paul George has played primarily as a 6’10” shooting guard for most of his career.

I don’t disagree. And it’s possible PG is the shiny object that isn’t our goal. The rumor mill is predicting Philly is the favorite. We could be looking at multiple guys, or trying to absorb a max contract into cap without having to give up pieces in a trade

GSW is out of the PG sweepstakes. As soon as he opted out of his contract it limited the options to just teams with cap space or the Clippers who have his bird rights. It’s either us or Philly for him, I bet.

Strap the eff in, y’all. The only reason to decline Moe would be to open up the space to sign a big time FA and then extend Moe long term by using one of the cap exceptions. Feels like PG13 is a legitimate chance. Wow
