Multiple league sources on X. Declining those guys apparently was necessary to complete the Bane trade. We could re-sign either I guess, but I don’t expect to. Only 4 guards with guaranteed contracts next season at the moment Suggs/AB/Bane/Jett. Gotta imagine another move is coming in some form to bolster backcourt depth. We can’t head into next season as a championship contender if Jett is in our main rotation.

Ok, so the real conundrum I need help with is I got a Paolo jersey for Father’s Day, finally! The black one of the previous generation. I’ve got old school blue pinstripe jerseys of Shaq and Penny. I need a white of the new style pinstripe and the new black/blue jersey. And I’m thinking I need 2 of the 3 of Franz/Suggs/Bane. I’m leaning Franz white and then I can’t decide if I want the other one to be Suggs or Bane.. help!

I think I’m happy with WCJ or Goga, not and. I’d rather bring on an older guy like Steven Adams for cheap to play backup 5 and trade one of our guys for backcourt depth

As excited as I am about the trade, I’ll be disappointed if it and drafting # 25 are our only 2 moves. We could get away with a short term vet at MLE level to make a title run, someone like CP3? I truly believe there’s some legs toward us sending one of Dell or Goga to LA for something, even if it’s just to rebound some of the draft capital we just dished out

Yeah, I think there’s more than enough evidence the more I think about it that Bane is our playmaking splash. Maybe the other move is trading Goga for like Knect or something to add another shooter

Correct, you can forget all the confusion here because we gave up our pick swap rights and 2026 1st rounder in the Bane deal

Let’s put the pieces we gave up in context real quick to the folks thinking we overpaid: KCP - absolutely awful for us last year. Old. Bad contract. Glad to get out. Cole - most inconsistent basketball player I’ve ever laid eyes on. We won’t miss him. Both players we gave up were straight up unplayable in the playoffs. 2025 pick 16 - Meh. Not a lotto pick, no harm here 2026 pick swap - probably the only actually valuable asset we gave up in the trade 2028 unprotected 1st - this pick will be in the 20s or later 2029 pick swap - Highly doubt this conveys, Memphis would have to finish better than us to want to use it. 2030 pick swap - this pick will be in the 20s or later. At the end of the day we spent 2 bad players, one good pick and 3 late firsts to get a fringe 50/40/90 guy who doesn’t sacrifice our defensive identity. This was a home run. Stop listening to the talking heads on Twitter that don’t know how to critically think and overreact to every thing. The Desmond Bane trade today is our Rashard Lewis/Horace Grant move for this era of Magic basketball. A move to put us from a good team to a title contender. Can’t freakin wait to see how this goes!

This is definitely the first move, not the only move. As it stands we’re the most expensive team in the league after this year. I expect Isaac and one of our Centers to be moved alongside Jett to get us PG. if the options were this move, or run it back and pick with our ****ty picks, I choose this every time

We still need a playmaker, so I’m glad we made an early move and I’m excited to see what we do next. For those who think it’s an overpay, I don’t disagree, but I’m honestly just excited to see us do something. Bane is one of the best catch and shoot 3 point shooters in the league.

Gotta pay up to acquire talent. I’m excited! Hopefully the first of a few moves this off-season. Bane can shoot the lights out and plays great defense. Keep in mind, our 1sts are not going to be super valuable picks, the window is now. LFG!

I’m honestly not shocked at all the Knicks fired Thibs. His style of using a small rotation the entire year and literally running all of his best players into the ground until they inevitably run out of gas or get injured is never going to work to win a championship.

I think my issue with the middle one is it doesn’t sit well as just a jersey. Feel like it needs the shorts to complement it, but they do really well. They’re gonna look fire on the court

I’d be shocked if we traded Suggs, he’s the heart and soul of this team… that said, it might be the smart basketball move to package him for a proven 3rd star that can stay on the court. We have more than enough evidence at this point showing that Jalen Suggs is an extremely reckless and injury prone player.

I don’t think anyone is down voting you, but rather the idea of Ty Jerome as a target, would be my guess. He was dreadful in the playoffs. So bad that he probably lost himself $100,000,000

I think the Moe decision probably depends on his recovery timeline too. He could miss half the season, so that’s something we need to take into account.

I agree that not everything is rigged, but honest question, the Mavs with a 1% chance of winning the lotto win it after everything they did with Luka, and it doesn’t raise your BS meter just a little bit? Game to game results aren’t rigged, but they’re certainly easy to dictate a direction if they want to and there are reasons Brothers and Foster have the reputation they do, and to me there’s quite a bit of evidence the lottery can be compromised if they wanted to.
