The Washington Wizards are trading Kelly Olynyk to the San Antonio Spurs for Malaki Branham, Blake Wesley and a 2026 second-round pick (least favorable of Dallas, Philadelphia, Oklahoma City), sources tell ESPN. Love this move for the Spurs.

Before diving into our chat with Tyus Jones and Jeff Weltman, along with video from summer league practice, I wanted to share that #Magic rookie Jase Richardson has a sore right ankle but is “progressing well,” per coach Ameer Bahhur, who added they’re “not too worried about it.”

It doesn't look like Caleb will be back with Tyus Jones selecting to wear #2.

The Houston Rockets are trading Cam Whitmore to the Washington Wizards for two second-round picks, sources tell ESPN. The deal gives Whitmore a tremendous opportunity for an increased role as he turns 21 on Tuesday and returns to the DMV area.

Correction on this: I forgot Desmond Bane has a bonus in his deal, so things are tighter to that first-apron hard cap for Orlando than I had below. They've got room for Penda on a 2RPE deal or a vet minimum signing. Can't currently fit in both. Plenty of time to clear room though.

The #Magic have officially signed second-round pick Noah Penda.

Update: Moe Wagner will have a no-trade clause in his one-year, $5 million deal with the Orlando Magic, league sources told @hoopshype
-
Bringing back Moe Wagner at $5M, I've got the Magic at about $4.3M over the luxury tax with two open roster spots. Orlando is hard-capped at the first apron from using the NTMLE on Tyus Jones, and has about $3.7M in clearance underneath the first apron. That's enough room for Noah Penda on a second round pick exception deal, plus a veteran minimum signing. I'm guessing we sign Houstan back on the vet min. Helluva off-season by Weltman and Parker.

The Houston Rockets and Kevon Harris have agreed to a two-way deal, Senior VP of @CSETalent Darrell Comer told @hoopshype. Harris was G League Next Up Game MVP and signed a 10-day deal with the Atlanta Hawks last season. He averaged 19.8 points and 7.1 rebounds in the G League.
-
The New Orleans Pelicans have waived Antonio Reeves, league sources told @hoopshype. The 24-year-old guard averaged 6.9 points on 45.6% shooting from the field and 39.5% from 3-point range in 44 games for the Pelicans last season. In his last 10 games, he averaged 15.4 points. He'll make a good two-way option.

Mavericks assistant God Shammgod has agreed to join the #Magic staff as an assistant coach under coach Jamahl Mosley, a league source told the @orlandosentinel. ESPN first. https://x.com/therealBeede/status/1940577300069876053 Dallas Mavericks player development coach God Shammgod has agreed to join the Orlando Magic as an assistant coach, Andy Miller of Klutch Sports tells ESPN. Shammgod has worked for the Mavericks since 2019 and now receives a larger role in Orlando.

The Utah Jazz reportedly want two first-round picks and a young player in exchange for Walker Kessler, per @jovanbuha “I’ve just heard nothing but they want two picks plus a young player for Walker Kessler. So the Lakers cannot do that trade. They can give one pick and one young player and a swap.”

Georgia Tech’s Lance Terry will join the Orlando Magic for NBA Summer League, I’m told. The bouncy, sharp-shooting 6’3” guard led the Yellow Jackets in scoring this season. All-Big South Honorable Mention at Gardner-Webb before transferring up to the ACC.

According to league sources, most of the discussions the Raptors were involved with dated back a month ago, and involved trading the No. 9-overall pick in the draft, along with salary — which why RJ Barrett’s name was often mentioned — for an impact player. The Raptors talked to Boston about Derrick White, Memphis about Desmond Bane and Phoenix about Kevin Durant. They price for Bane (four first-round picks and a pick swap) was too steep; the Raptors didn’t want to part with Jakob Poeltl in a Durant deal and the Celtics' White would have commanded a price commensurate with Bane, if not more.

https://x.com/da_nyce1/status/1940216672281153804 Lakers have contacted Orlando regarding WCJ and Goga.

Latest update from Marc Stein: “Longtime Mavericks player development specialist God Shammgod, whose Mavericks contract expired Monday, has too received strong external interest and is increasingly expected to join Jamahl Mosley’s coaching staff in Orlando after Shammgod and Mosley worked together as Mavericks assistant coaches under Carlisle.”

Scoop Ex-Pistons player Malik Beasley's money problems ran so deep he pledged his current and future NBA contracts as collateral in one deal and stiffed his dentist. That dentist started seizing part of Beasley's NBA paychecks in February. Yeah, he's finished.
