I loved this team. loved the way it was being built. Otis sold me on youth and building on youth so he has to answer in my eyes for chucking seven foot youth to the wind and hoping it magically (no pun intended ) comes drifting back to us without even making a phone call. and again don't make them get on your for the third person stuff. You are one of the most entertaining posters here.

Fair enough Soul Bro but if we say no one knows then we can't say we know why Cornstein got so upset. SO before i was so rudely interrupted thats why I was asking for a reason to see things the way Enfuego does. Why in the world couldn't Otis let Darko know the process before rescinding the offer? It makes no sense to me. What would be revealed that isn't now known by everybody. We are clearing the room to sign Rshard, we have other things in place that haven't yet materialized to get more space and we are coming back for you as best we can. Thats what I was hoping I heard happened. Instead so far OTis seems to be saying - I didn't need to tell you anything. NOw come on - isn't that going to make things even harder? Wouldn't it be better to say "hey I guess I didn't do a good enough job of letting them know where we were at." Now if we come up with the identical offer someone else is willing to give we can forget about Darko and frankly if he has any pride we are going to have to come alot higher.

Is the Magic really your fav team? because honestly all you do is talk $hit about how screwed we are and hoy crappy our GM is. Now by know means am i telling you that your opinions dont mtter but MOST of us hear LOVE this team so it is really Pissing us off to here you CONSTANTLY put down this organization. If you dont like the way otis does buisness BY ALL MEANS go cheer for the miami d@mn heat. Oh so thats the why some of you run around saying I cause trouble? Trouble is when I have a different opinion from you. Refreshing honesty. Anyway heres the news flash - Darko is a Magic player. Grant was a magic player for years. I've been a magic player for years. I bought into how this team was being built. When everyone was toasting BHill alive every day it was alright because you all agreed with it but if I question the GM who I am on record as deeming a good GM and I am less than a fan - because you don't agree with it? SO theres one way of looking at some issues or you are instigating? Give it up. I will not question Otis any more when everyone else doesn't question any player, owner, coach or anyone in the front office anymore. Deal? As for things I am positive about? Love the potential of JJ. Like the up and coming play of Ariza. Loved the idea of having two power house big men and since you seem new here lobbied and cheered like crazy over our new coach. Theres a pile of things I am positive about. I am not going to be positive about losing Darko over a GM refusing to make a five minute phone call and I'm not going to bash Grant Hill. Those are the only things you've heard from me that are in your words "negative".

quote: If he shared his plans with Darko's agent, he coulda used it to his own advantage (in any way he thinks he could use it). But Otis has to think about only (and only) Magic's interests (even if this means the process of signing your new FA looks like a disrespect to your own res. FA). Understand where you are coming from Gianto and it would work for me except for the fact that we are telling the Agent we still want to sign Darko but through the media when we could have come clean and let him know what was happening. The silliness of it all is if we take the agent aside before and tell him exactly what we are telling the media now we don't give anything secret away. we just let the agent and Darko know first so that they understand even if they don't agree. Here we have Otis admitting he told them nothing about what was going on and should just figure it out for themselves. Arrogant position and foolish which is why I hope theres more going on than that.

Hills move the biggest slap in the face to the Magic

The weird thing is in one thread you have everyone upset saying what a traitor Grant is because he indicated he might be back and then in another thread we have everyone defending a GM who promised a player he would be resigned and is now saying he doesn't need to tell the player the time of day so he can resign him. Real Homer mentality. True enough. However I have to say. IF you are so derogatory about Magic fans what are you doing here?

Otis still wants to keep Darko! (Denton blog)

quote: Ifu read between the lines, the Magic had an offwer on the table for Darko at 6.8 million, apparently Darkos agent didnt accept it, I think we are seeing the bigger picture now. Rich, we always knew that. Whats new in that? The QO was on the table and wasn't taken, I don't see any bigger picture in what was already known. Otis' comments more or less confirm what Cornstein was saying. Otis didn't communicate. This hiding your hand thing is fine if you are in negotiations not when you are making a restricted free agent that you want an unrestricted free agent. Sounds like Otis has a real attitude problem with the agent. However like it or not he's Darko's agent. You need to handle the business better. Still hope he has more to say because that revelation only shows Otis being arrogant and Cornstein having a good point. There was every reason to discuss with Darko what the process was. IF we had we would have been in a better position to not tick him off as much and therefore resign him easier and for less.

I really won't think he totally sucks even if we lose Darko but ARiza or JJ? Get ready for the bashing. Until then. GO Otis!

    More Darko news from MC

More smoke and mirrors from MC. No doubt some will lap it up but you don't pull a QO because an agent is asking too much money. We pulled this three days into free agency. You let the agent see there is no market at 10 million then if he doesn't budge by next week you can rescind. The pull was to make sure we could sign Rashard even if we couldn't get any other moves done. Second I call it bogus to claim that an agent is going to risk his commission and his client just to get back at Otis. Sure he was making a play for as much money. Thats what agents do but to claim he was going to string out the Magic until alot of teams which could bid would be already committed elsewhere seems highly suspect. At any rate not liking the agent or the offer or the amount he's asking doesn't mean you can't call and have to break the rescinding by email.
  10. quote: Originally posted by RodMC:That's why Otis sent him the email...so he would have copy of the letter to Darko. Hope theres more to it because that still doesn't make sense. HE should have called the agent first , let him know what was happening and then sent the email over to him. From the agent's story the news was broke in the email. Thats not how things should be done for a player we actually want.

Don't make some of the comments on this board make you think that there are not a whole lot of Magic fans that respect Grant. I also have to think that at some point there might have been talk of developing JJ and therefore limiting his minutes. Its something that alot of us have talked about. Might be surprised. Grant might have felt stepping aside was a good thing for the Magic. JJ and him were developing a good relationship towards the end there.

Or is having a different opinion from you and a few others instigating an argument every time I have one that you don't like? I know it bugs people for me to be wishing Grant well. They get all riled up if anyone sees him differently. Too bad. We can have different opinions. Grant is a solid player and a player I respect. MY complaint about changing your quote in my post is entirely justified. if I say something that I don't mean or need to correct I have to explain it when it is quoted not go into someones thread and change the quote to pretend thats not what I said to make my own point more palatable. I have no problem with you modding my posts if I violate some rule but you shouldn't be going into my posts to advance your own arguments. Poor form. You wrote something you didn't mean just say so LIKE ALL THE REST OF US have to do when we mispeak or get misunderstood. and no there will be no back and forth. I'm done on this issue.

Will Darko be wearing a Magic Uni next year?

Drain O we aren't very far apart on the Phone call issue. The professionalism you speak of is what Otis should have shown by way of the standard phone call. Its not shocking or stunning the agent took offense at this situation. Trying it another way- Your employer promises you a job when it becomes open (we all heard Darko was a priority this offseason so so did he). Well the job and a few other becomes available. Everyone else that was promised things is getting their positions and you boss says nothing. Then he sends out a memo to you that he's not making any promises about the position and may role over the position and department into another department and give the dollars to that departments head but he really really needs you. Tell me you aren't saying to yourself - "yeah right actions speak louder than words baby" Now of course theres a good reason for all of this and Otis is trying to do it this way for a perfectly good reason BUT if the boss really needs you to take the job eventually and values you wouldn't he communicate better? The communication is exactly what the agent is complaining about and he OBVIOUSLY has a point. In regard to Charlotte. My understanding is Wallace is unrestricted. Charlotte can sign Darko and yet because Wallace is their player they can go over cap to sign him without luxury tax. In regard to Chicago Garnett has already made it known where he wants to go when he is free, Arenas is a long shot to leave and Oneal is being shopped now. So would they go after a 7 footer center they would really round out their ball club. Why in the world not if they find themselves with the room?

A) there is not a thing in that report that said that Stan guaranteed him anything B) I do not appreciate you using your position as a mod to go into my post and change what you said and I objected to. You said he was guaranteed time alongside Rashard The you went into my post and changed your quote. The fact is that Rashard signing does change things and no one ever guaranteed Grant a starting position or time alongside Rashard. So the source says nothing of what you claimed and said what it said before free agency even started. NO one knows what went down until we hear more
