  1. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

    Lol ok
  2. Vogel is gone - Who should be our next coach?

It bugs people because he pretends to be plugged in but he's not.
  3. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

I think we could trade up to 3.
  4. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

My ideal scenario that's not something crazy is coming out of the draft with Jackson and Melton.
  5. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Imagine, preferring Jackson to Trae Young. Crazy! He's only ranked ahead of Trae by ESPN, the ringer, NBA draft dotnet, sports illustrated, USA today, nbc, bleacher report, net scouts, CBS sports, basketball insiders, the stepian (I'm not sure there's another somewhat legitimate mock draft out there)
  6. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

We develop them fine. We just give up too early.

Also the fact you called him thabeet 2.0 shows you haven't watched much basketball as they couldn't be more different players. Thabeet was a 7'3 slow plodding center that couldn't score outside of 5 feet. Jackson plays like a 6'11 240 lb Golden State version of Harrison Barnes that also happens to be an elite rim protector.
  8. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

He didn't really disappear. He was played out of position as izzo decided to play two centers and a power forward lineups. And he's the youngest player projected in the lotto. He only got 6.6 fga per game as he was a freshman playing on a team that returned their starting center and starting power forward (and top two scorers) from the previous season. But I like him because he was an elite rim protector, a 40% three point shooter, continued to improve as the year went on, and has the foot speed to switch onto wings on the perimeter so he fits exactly what we want to do.
  9. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Well 10 he's thrilling but yes. Different picks have different weights and expected returns. Between 06 and 15: The 6th pick has returned Brandon Roy and Lillard as high end pieces. Gallinari and smart as good starters. Noel was still TBD. The 8th pick is Rudy gay, kcp, aminu, Ross, Knight as the best pieces
  10. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

You're underanalyzing and failing to project him to the NBA.
  11. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

His skills aren't good enough. To overcome his deficiencies. This is survivorship bias. Shot 43% from 3 over a really nice 11 game streak. Shot 32% the other 21 games Shot 36% over recorded high school competition Shot 24% in fiba.

I think if you told me that we'd definitely get Sexton and either zhaire or Lonnie Walker at 12 and 13 I'd definitely trade 6 assuming Jackson or Bamba wasn't available. The potential of Sexton plus one of those two sgs is greater than only one of the guys that would be available at 6.
  13. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Yeah. That's my whole premise. If Bamba isn't a game altering defensive player he could still be DeAndre Jordan or Tyson Chandler or jusif nurkic. The hypothetical no future injury impact version of Porter could be offense only Paul George or khris Middleton or Barnes or Harris or gallinari Wendell Carter is pretty much guaranteed to be a dependable starter but lacks much more upside in my opinion. Bagley I don't like but there's at least the argument that his mind could catch up to his body and you could teach him how to utilize his talent on defense. At 8 or 9 you start to reach "it's ok if this guy is just a rotation player with some upside" territory. Philly would/should be thrilled with Trae.
  14. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Or it makes him Bobby Hurley Or a marginally better Tyler Ulis
  15. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

I think there's pretty much no chance he's a dependable starter. He's either Steph/Paul/Lillard or the lesser kemba tier or a game changing sixth man. There's not really an in between because of his deficiencies.
  16. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Because doncic can be a lead initiator and has a high probability of being at least average on defense given he's 6'8 230. I'll just repeat myself over and over and over again. Picking young this high suggests you think he's got a good chance to be top 15 at his position. To reach top 15 impact at his position, given his likely bottom quartile defensive impact, requires him to be a top 10 offensive player. If he's not a top 10 offensive player his value is more as a bench scorer change of pace guy. Betting on someone who must be elite to be worth the investment is a terrible idea. Especially when he's not the type of player who's entering the league with some sort of leg up on his peers like Derrick Rose with elevating over defenses or John wall with his size/speed with the ball combination.
  17. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Yes really. Being a dominant ball handler doesn't suggest positive NBA impact.
  18. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

No it's not. That's a false dichotomy that you defined arbitrarily to fit your specific agenda.
  19. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Yes there is. Doncic Ayton go 1-2 in some order, Jackson goes third, Memphis falls in love with Porter, Bamba goes 5th. I mean I wouldn't bet on Bagley not going in the top 5 but there are scenarios where it happens.
  20. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Congrats on drafting Steve Blake #6
  21. 2018 Official Offseason Thread

15 ppg, bad efficiency three point shot regresses. Basically he'd have to get worse for him to be a trade liability next season. He'd be a trade liability the following season if he spent next year and a half up to the trade deadline not getting better. People are down on Wiggins contract now, not because of what he's doing today but because what he's doing today is too similar to what he did the last couple years. Plateau fears.
  22. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

Yeah but is that because of overwhelming talent and future projected success or is it the first symptom of a post Curry MVP world? Is his situation analogous to the NBA? Or is he the first "air raid system quarterback" of college basketball? There was that kid in high school that averaged something like 70 points per game because his team used a philosophy that if you play 4 on 5 on defense the other team might score 90% of the time but if your fifth player just stands on the other end and gets open layups he'll score 99% of the time. But obviously that kid isn't really a good player, his scoring is situation based. Trae's situation at Oklahoma was unlike any other situation in college basketball which inflated his numbers. Obviously he has NBA level talent but what if he was on a super team and his scoring was down to 17 ppg and he just lead the league in assists? Would we feel the same way about him?
  23. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

I think it's crazy that Luka falls to 3. Not with his coach being Phoenix's coach and Vlade Divac skewing toward the country formerly known as Yugoslavia's players.
  24. 2018 NBA Draft Thread

It's not draft season until there's an anonymous report of an elite guy falling.
  25. 2018 Official Offseason Thread

No his issue in Cleveland is he's not very good
