  1. Start up with Cleveland on Wednesday and Atlanta on Saturday. Need to see them start 2-0 if we think a leap is possible. Still need to add 1 player to get to 14.

Why specifically single out shooting from 2 years ago? Last year he shot 34% pre all star, 37% post all star and 40% in the playoffs.

That's why our goal is to be an average offensive team, not a bottom 10 offensive team. Additionally, I think it's kind of disingenuous to use career averages for expected 3 point percentage. Gordon is a career 31% three point shooter but has shot 34% over the past 2 seasons. The expectation for his shooting is closer to 34 than 31. Isaac is a career 33% three point shooter but the expectation is he shoots much higher than that.

He's really good on defense and he allows us to keep an advantage at the forward spot when Isaac or Gordon go to the bench or are in foul trouble. We're shopping him not because he's bad, but because he's not a long term piece here (and never was) and he maintains a ton of value and is a good asset that playoff teams would want because he's not average on defense. He's very good.

I mean, Wiggins has stretches like this before. It's why we had a discussion about him this summer on here. The frustration with him was never about being bad, it's been times like this where he is awesome but overall numbers that aren't great. Long stretches where he disappears. Not caring about defense. And the contract making it more difficult to take a chance on him. And do you accept that risk for a guy who seems fine just being alright.

Depends on the market. I don't think we're interested in risk based on what we've heard from writers. But we haven't been shy about shopping for pieces. Last year we were interested in DSJ, ntilikina, and were in the final stages of a trade for Delon Wright before we ultimately settled on fultz. To your point it does make sense to dump Fournier and DJ to avoid having them walk. Additionally, since we're now in a place where we're having a tough time forming a rotation due to depth I think we're in a good spot to do a 2 for 1 deal. But we can't take on salary this year so that complicates things.

Everybody saw it except for Phoenix and Sacramento. Our front office desperately tried to trade up for him but couldn't. When Atlanta had the deal with Dallas we tried to trade with Sacramento but they were in love with Bagley.

I guess it depends on your definition of reliable. I wouldn't for reliable shot creation like dinwiddie. I would for a legitimate number one offensive option.

Bamba got 4 screen assists that game so he at least set 4 good screens. Slipping the screen isn't setting a bad screen though.

They're not offering dinwiddie for aminu and I don't see us being interested in an aminu for Harris swap as that kind of destroys our bench identity. Plus there's no real place to play him as we already have DJ, Ross, MCW taking up those 1-3 spots.

Magic Vs. Pacers - Sunday, Nov. 10th at 6:00 P.M.

Brogdon is fine off ball. I know I keep harping on this but a bunch of teams wouldn't sign him because he has really scary medicals. It's why he fell in the draft. It's why he played 56 games over the last 2 years. His foot is being referred to as a "ticking time bomb". And that bomb could go off tomorrow or a year from now or when he's 30. This is why Milwaukee let him go. Not someone you want to give big long term money to. So the deal looks good today and he might be fine until the end of his deal or he might miss the season a weak from now and never be there same player again.

I can see the nets being interested in aminu. I don't really see a trade giving us something back that we'd value though.

It doesn't work. We can't add that much salary. Trade machines don't account for our hard cap situation because unlikely to achieve bonuses aren't counted in the salary.

House makes 3.4 million. Fournier makes 17 million. It's not really a feasible discussion Houston wants things that make them better this year to maximize their window with harden. The 17th pick in this upcoming draft isn't something they'd covet. You can't just decided you want a player and trade for him. It has to make sense for both sides. And just like we wouldn't trade Ross for an expiring and a pick from a playoff team because our goal is to make the playoffs and additional late draft picks only do so much for us no playoff team is going to make a move like that. Beal in a vacuum should be available but there's special circumstances that make him untradable and now cap rules with his extension literally make him untradable until next summer.

I had a moment of clarity earlier. I think our offensive-defensive player balance is ok. I've thought for a long time adding an offensive player in place of a defensive player would possibly destroy our ceiling as a defensive team. But that doesn't really mean we can't add an offensive upgrade to an offensive player. So I think Fournier and a pick for JJ is something realistic and something that would improve our offense. JJ provides a big upgrade on the skills we need from Evan but doesn't necessarily need the ball as often freeing up shots for other guys. We save a chunk of money letting us fill out the bench with a vet. So basically we'd be turning a 37-38% three point shooter into a 41% three point shooter. The downside is Fournier can get to the basket and JJ can't so we're losing that part of his game and need fultz and Gordon to take that responsibility. But that could be a good thing.

We probably could. And he's better than he's played this year. He's feeling with stuff off the court. But I don't know. The point of Smith was to get a point guard who could get to the rim and score a bit and hopefully develop him where he could play efficient, winning basketball. Now that we have fultz we don't need to gamble with guys like him anymore.

There's a thought process that his defense and consistent scoring would be an improvement over Fournier even accounting for a lack of shooting. But, yeah, I dunno. I don't like the fit and he's falling out of favor with a team that's perfectly happy embracing who he is as a basketball player. Not a good sign.

Fwiw he's improved from literally the worst screen setter I've seen in my entire life to "iffy" So that's something. Maybe he keeps improving. He at least makes contract every time now. Next thing he needs to learn how to do is move more deliberately after the screen.

The funny thing is DJ is the guy with the most ISOs. Those occur when a center switches onto him. But yeah. Gordon has a problem getting offensive fouls. I don't know if it's a reputation thing. Anecdotal evidence says guys who initiate contract with finesse pretty layups and floaters get called for the offensive foul approximately 99% of the time while guys who initiate considerably more contact and dunk almost never get called for offensive fouls so maybe he should just dunk.

(Please don't take this as condescending because I don't know another way to describe it) The way you know if a play is an isolation is if the rest of the team isolates the player with the ball.

Those aren't ISOs. Those are drives or transition buckets. I'm not sure Gordon has an isolation possession this year.
