Stop boosting your stats. It's annoying.
  3. Simple rules to this friendly contest: 1: Post your playoff predictions 2. Points will be awarded (2 pts for picking correct team; 3 points for picking correct amount of games--only awarded if the team you chose to win actually wins) 3. For each round, the point values go up by 1. (Rd. 1 - 2;3 Rd. 2 - 3;4 etc. etc) 4. At the end of the playoffs, add up the points and the winner gets mad props, unless someone wants to add it creating a sig cause I don't know how to do that. _____________________________________________________________ Lets get predictions in before the 2nd games start tomorrow. Chill out kid...the dude clearly said he did that trade because he was bored. Not because he actually thought this would work. We don't need a big blocking center...we already have one. We need a back up who can play decent enough defense to get us through times when Dwight needs a rest or is in foul trouble. Immediate needs - 1) Resign Dwight 2) athletic/create your own shot SF (Gerald Wallace or Rudy Gay would be amazing, Prince seems to be the most realistic option; I personally wouldn't mind seeing Travis Outlaw as an option as well) 3) An improvement at PF (Don't really know who we could put here, but I would assume someone who is taller and able to get boards and play good defense.) My money says we trade Bass and keep Anderson. 4) Sign a decent back up big man for a low contract - or bring Fran over Secondary needs - 1) Improvement at PG - here is where Chris Paul and DWill come into consideration. Even though I love Nelson, I think he's carried the Magic as far as he is going to. We need a more dynamic PG to pair up with Dwight for seasons to come. Personally I think DWill is the perfect fit, plus he hasn't been seriously injured since entering the NBA (I might be mistaken on that though) 2) A create your own shot SG - This is something the Magic will probably look to acquire through a s&t with JRich and Bass. OJ Mayo's name has been thrown around a lot. I'd take JR Smith before I'd take Mayo, but I'm not entirely sold on Smith either. I'm not really sure who could fill this role. However, none of this even matters until the CBA kicks in. That will be the deal breaker.

By the way can we sticky this and make it the official offseason thread?

Could be the end for a lot of guys

First off, any deal where we give up JRich, Jameer, Bass, and JJ for just one player - unless that is Michael Jordan in his prime, I wouldn't do it. Thats just ridiculous. Secondly, our weakest position is definitely SF and PF. I think that SG is one of our strongest positions. JJ can play decent defense, its just that we need players that can create their own shot and neither JRich or JJ can do that now. But I don't think that makes SG our weakest position. Third, Gay is a small forward not a shoot guard. However, saying all of that - I would trade JRich, Meer, Bass, and JJ for Chris Paul if we could also land Wallace and Gay. Paul Gay Wallace Anderson Dwight Oh the joys of unrealistic offseason speculation

    NBA TV

I just found out that tonights game is on NBATV AGAIN!!! For those of us who aren't paying for that stupid channel, this is complete crap. Why is every single Laker/Heat/Celtic game on ESPN or TNT, but 3 out of the 6 games for the Magic have been on NBATV? Does anyone else smell foul? I just don't understand how they could be so blatently biased.

Magic won't fire Otis, SVG regardless of Hawks series

Thats why Outlaw needs out of New Jeresey...and Deron Williams for that matter...so maybe we could snag both somehow.

Magic won't fire Otis, SVG regardless of Hawks series

His contract was 5 yr 35 mil I was thinking more along the lines of trading Turk or a package of players for Outlaw. I'm really just thinking of players that can be improvements in the areas that we need. SF, PF Just off the top of my head, I think Outlaw, Prince, G. Wallace, possibly Terrance Williams - could be legitimate SF potential prospects. In my opinion As far as PF go - Scola, Diaw, Antawn Jamison (if he doesnt retire), Josh Smith, David West - could be legitimate PF potential prospects. Then just for fun, looking at PG - Paul, Williams, Harris, Holiday - could be legitimate PG potential prospects, thinking solely of getting younger and more athletic in certain positions.

Who do you think the Magic will go after? Thats an RFA?

Magic won't fire Otis, SVG regardless of Hawks series

I agree completely. I'd love to see Rudy with the Magic, but unless we could convince Memphis to trade with us and the Hornets in a 3 way, with us landing Paul and Gay, I just don't see us landing an all-start type player like Rudy. What about Travis Outlaw? Thats a guy I've wanted in a Magic uni for a long time. I don't know if the Nets are sort of locked in with him being their young core with DWill and Lopez, but I would certainly like to see him in a lineup and I think he's easier to get than Rudy. Then maybe that would give us enough options to go after Paul as well?? Idk

SVG's response to D12 hard fouls

Thats a good analogy with the running on the track, because that is practically what Dwight has to do. Tonight was ridiculous. I counted at least 2 times where Zaza "fouled" Dwight and his arms some how ended up around his neck. Another time he locks up Dwights left arm, Dwight breaks free and is called for the offensive foul. I realize that every team needs an instigator but thats just plain ridiculous. Just play basketball, don't depend on tricking the refs, flopping, and all this other non sense that 95% of the NBA does now-a-days. Ruins the game in my opinion. Also, the foul on Duhon with 7 seconds left...are you serious? Were they just trying to piss off the fans because I truly believe that is what they were doing.

I'm all for it too, but after the season/post-season that Paul and the Hornets are having. I don't see anyway Paul leaves N.O.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

I agree with that, but I don't know if the Wizards would let him go. I know Crawford played well for them, but why wouldn't they keep Crawford and Young and have a dynamic guards there too? I do hope that the Magic can get younger/athletic/better at all these positions of need (SG, SF, PF)...but I don't know if we'll get all the names that people are throwing around.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

For a team that wants to get younger. Going and signing Tony Parker who is 2-3 years away from retiring isn't your solution.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

Brand - maybe Joe Johnson - won't be cut Haywood - Yes, as a backup Rip - Heck yes. He would be reborn in a Magic uni David Lee - won't be cut Baron Davis - no better than Jameer Mike Conley - the way memphis is playing right now, I think they keep their team together Bosh - won't be cut Drew Gooden - been down that road. no Salmons - Yes. Magegettee - Yes Darko - Yes Okafor - Won't be cut Roy - Wont be cut and if people are complaining about Gil not being healthy, you want to bring in another player with bad knees? Bargnani - Yes. But all of this is complete speculation, at least going with the assumption that there won't be a new CBA and we'll have to do things the old fashion way, we arent boosting ourselves up to be greatly disappointed.

Arenas; "My type of game isn't SVG's type of game"

I agree. I think SVG isn't using Arenas properly. I don't know why you don't even try to use him. Everyone has been playing awful, except for Dwight, so why not try every player you can to see if someone can generate something positive (Clark and Arenas). I didn't follow the link, so I don't know when these comments were released, but I think it was bad timing. These aren't the type of things you say before a potential elimination game. Also, it doesn't help SVG and his ever growing hot seat. I hope Arenas can get healthy and be as close to 100% that he is going to get next season. I think we all know that Arenas won't be going to the All-Star game again, but he can still be a very productive player if he is healthy and used the right way. And whoever said we have 3 crappy point guards on our team. You're an idiot. Jameer and Arenas are both better than average point guards and Duhon is the only one that is really where he needs to be, 3rd string. Jameer and Arenas aren't elite PG, but not every team has an elite PG, so you take out Rose, Rondo, Williams, Paul, Nash, Parker. Then I'd say our PG match up pretty well with the rest of the league.

Not to mention that Tayshaun was a guy that helped Dwight out during the Olympics with his defending more agile bigs. I think there's probably a friendship there. And from a basketball standpoint, everything you said is right. He is one of the more solid defenders in the league who can guard Kobe, DWade, Lebron, Josh Smith. Basically anyone playing the 1-4 spot, he can guard. He's pretty solid from 3, BUT most importantly he's won a championship and knows what it takes to get back to that level. The Pistons teams of a couple years ago were great not because they had a bunch of all-stars, they were great because they played as a team. I think Tayshaun would really help the Magic out, I've put his name out there in previous threads. Maybe it could work? CP3 Smith Tayshaun Bass Dwight I'd take that. Sign another big or trade JRich for a improved PF.

Could be the end for a lot of guys

Well, I personally don't get upset when these things don't happen because I understand that rumors and actually getting the name on the line are completely different things. I would just like to hear it from someone who has been helpful in the past at pointing this board in the right direction even if every detail you've posted hasn't been correct, at least the names and the shuffling of players has been in the ballpark somewhere. So I'm really just trying to get in my head who the Magic are going after cause I'd like to try and imagine what type of team that would be. I know this board went crazy over the thought of getting Paul last year, is this new idea of getting Paul have any more ground to it than last year?

Could be the end for a lot of guys

Yea, he's going to play a Duke...so I already don't like him. But I do like that he went out and said that he wanted to crush Lebron. so that makes me like him a little. I'd love to have Doc be the coach, but I don't know if he would leave Boston for their rival...
  24. OrlandoNKentucky

Could be the end for a lot of guys

What about the rumors that Doc wants to retire to spend more time with his kids? I thought those were pretty legitimate rumors. If Rivers is out, who would the Magic be interested in? Sloan is retired, I don't know why people are still saying his name. Plus he's old school and doesnt relate well with his players. Not what this team needs. Adelman isn't much better than SVG in my opinion. So what other options are there? If Otis is outed, who would be a good replacement for him? I heard Barkley would be interested in being a GM. :happypuppy: So the team wants to get younger and more athletic. So far I've heard Ariza, JR Smith, Paul (here we go again), Hamilton, Prince. Are these legitimate names or just a wish list?
