Please explain why Battie is Starting over Darko!

If he starts and does well his value will go up more than it is now. With this being a business why would management want him to raise his value before he resigns?

 

They do not want to have to worry about other teams killing themselves to get him. When they sign him to a good size contract and know they have him for what they want to pay, he will start.

 

Not a good strategy for winning games but a pretty good one from the money aspect.
