ORLANDO MAGIC: Of course, the Magic overpaid for Rashard Lewis when they rewarded the one-time all-star with a staggering six-year, $118.5 million contract. But for a Magic team desperate for a new arena and knowing that it had to do whatever it took to keep Dwight Howard in town, consider it money well spent. Landing Lewis and his dynamic inside/outside game helped the Magic lock up Howard to a five-year extension expected to be worth as much as $80 million. It also generated the momentum for the approval of a downtown events center that will keep the Magic in Orlando. The plan with signing Lewis basically boils down to this: put as many shooters as possible on the floor around Howard. Every decision, from signing Lewis to drafting J.J. Redick to hiring Stan Van Gundy to recharge the offense, is based on helping Howard hit his potential. The Magic feel Howard could soon become the game's most dominant inside player. If he can do that this season, Orlando could very well join Detroit, Cleveland, Toronto and Boston in the Eastern Conference's upper crust. http://www.hoopsworld.com/article_23434.shtml The season is getting close the articles are starting to appear... I feel Dwight is going to step up this season and bring the Magic to the next level.
