It all comes down to money and who stands to gain the most or lose the most based on the outcome. In the case of Donaghy, he is in a position to potentially take down not only an entire professional sports association (allow me a little hyperbole) but also gambling interests connected to organized crime. The Feds LOVE that kind of stuff!

 

Vick has a federal case against him too, but the NFL will only have some egg on its face and no one else (except the dogs of course) will really take a hit from this.
